Post subject:  Leaky injector... or maybe somewhere else

My crd is  ing or maybe it's just sweating due to the heat here. I saw the following, but the clips are all in place.

I think this has been going on for awhile due to the smell of diesel in the cab while fresh is selected. There is some spray from the drip getting blown around. Checked to see if the bolt holding down the injector was tight it was. The diesel is just building up in the slot around the injector from there it disappears. It could be running into there from somewhere, but it's fairly clean... just dusty from the AZ dirt. The mileage is really good, I managed 33 on the last highway trip. Is there anything else I should look at?

I put a lift pump, provent, and the cat filter on more than a year ago. With 40k miles I'm on my own w/o a warranty. Any help will be appreciated.

You might want to check the condition of the fuel return lines coming of the injectors. these are the flexible, braided 1/4" OD lines connecting each injector, then returning to the tank.

I had on of these pop of my old 6.2L GMC and it sure made a mess!

This area looks really dry. I guess it's the injector that is leaking or some o-ring. It looks like there is an o-ring down there.... I'll start digging through the FSM. All of the others look fine at least it is number one.

Thanks,
Brian

I am thinking this is the nut to tighten... at the pressures we are looking at, it could be leaking anywhere.

Correct - hold the fitting at the injector with a backup wrench, tighten the pipe nut, as circled - eightth turn should do it
