Post subject:  Air Filter Access

I've tumbled into a simple trick that makes checking/changing the air filter very easy.

If you look at the one A/C line that runs up and over the air filter, then across the engine fan shroud, it's held in place on the fan shroud by two christmas tree fasteners. These fasteners have slotted heads to accept tie straps, and the hard line is tie strapped to these two fasteners.

If you cut these two tie straps, the A/C line then lifts up and out of the way, making removing and replacing the air filter cover several orders of magnitude easier.

Once you're done, simply move the A/C line back into place, and take two new tie straps and reattach it to the christmas tree fasteners. Very easy to get back in the same position, you can see where the old tie straps were rubbing on the metal pipe.

Thanks for the idea. I had to fight and fight to get the air filter cover back on when I installed by ProVent. I'll give that a shot when I need to replace the filter.
