Post subject:  CRD REPLACEMENT BATTERY

What battery should I go with? It looks like some batteries have lead terminals (posts) pushed further in so it is a major pain in the stupid to get the negative terminal hooked up...
I need one ASAP.
Pls let me know.
Thanks.

I believe all CRDs came from the factory with Optimas because diesels need serious cranking amps. Optima makes some of the best batteries but they are not cheap. Mine has a Chrysler part number listed on it but it looks like a standard Optima Red Top. If you end up going with something other than an Optima just make sure it has atleast the OE rated CA (cranking amps) and CCA (cold cranking amps). Otherwise you will be quite irritated when the car doesn't start in colder weather.

I just replaced my original battery, which was an Optima Red Top made for Chrysler. I got an Optima Red Top 34/78, but the terminal posts are a little further in. I believe the 34R has the right spacing on the posts, but this is what my O'Reilly had in stock. I didn't know until after I got it that Sam's Club sells the exact same battery for less.
