Post subject:  lookin to buy a CRD

Ive been lurking around in the shadows here for a few months and decided to join to ask a few questions. Well im interested in a getting a crd liberty, but i need know how much i can tow with it. I have a 1990 Suzuki samurai on 32s that is a wheelin rig only. Right now i pull it with an 89 Cherokee, but i want something newer. If i got a liberty my plans would be to put some sort of full 3" exhaust system and maybe a programmer, any of this worth it? Also what should i be lookin out for when i start shoppin?

Thanks for any and all help!

Check out the recalls on the CRD's, they have some issues that the dealership should have already fixed. Also, the CRD is rated to tow 5k lbs, others on the forum can chime in on performance upgrades, they are readily available.

Howdy - Welcome to LOST

If you're thinking about towing - check out some of Danoid's posts on his trailer - that normally answers any questions.

The only mod you really need to do quickly is something for the CCV -it's dumping oil into the intake manifold - (check EHM or Provent) - anything else can wait.

The performance module is a great idea - but you need a lift pump and EGT gauge 1st - you don't want to melt things.

The 3" exhaust would probably be pretty impressive - but I don't think anyone makes it off the shelf - so you're looking at custom - actually just getting rid of the 2" stock muffler and getting a 2 1/2 (or even a straight pipe) makes a significant difference.
