Also averaged 27mpg over 550 miles with the latest fillup.

Wow. So this was a rolling start or stopped? Top speeds?

0-60 in the 5.7 Hemi in the Grand sounds like it would be in the 7 second ballpark. I know my CRD is quick for its size, but I would put it around 9 seconds.

Of course, maybe you have chipped yours and you don't have the skids and bigger tires.

Guy was gonna try to cut me off at a light, so once the turbo boosted I was able to pull on him.

I'm sure if we had pushed it up past 40mph he would have pulled ahead, but man, when that turbo spools it sure does spool.

Yep - that's the main bennie of having a smaller turbo, but, if we had no TRM and EMCC, a larger version would cut the little CRD loose on top end, where the Hemi rules - 'course, DCJ has the 545RFE TRM'ed in that one, also - same in any of the Hemi's

I took a V8 Tuareg once. It was in about 6 inches of slush and he pulled up next to me expecting to get around me when the light turned green.

Heh heh. I don't have traction control. I have Goodyear Wrangler MT/R's.

After we got on the freeway he did pass me and I smiled and waved...

When i was a kid i used to think that other cars were racing me. I was flooring it and they were driving normal..... Both those SUVs (gc and vw) make around 300 hp and ft/lbs and arent much heavier.... pretty sure they werent flooring it. I had a friend with a limited liberty same year with the 3.7l and i BARELY beat him.

I pulled a Corvette this morning on the way to work. Smoked his booty off the line. Of course, he probably hadn't fully released his brake yet....but I still beat him!

LOL I smoke cars in top end and in the curves with the KJ. Big SUV's just slugs in the curves at speed. A hemi GC may get me at top end but in the curves I can kill it, the only exception is the SRT8 IF IF IF the driver knows what they are doing.

I believe the Hemi could have been wide open. What was the outside temperature? What was the altitude? Was the Hemi running a tank full of regular to save a few pennies? Did he have some gear in the back?

My CRD loves hot weather above 100 F. The engine really comes alive and I fully expect to get 32 to 34 mpg on the highway when it's that hot out. Every non turbo gasoline engine that I have driven in hot weather at altitude in Colorado was DEAD compared to cool weather in the low lands.

How 'bout it Sir Sam, was it a hot day above 5,000 ft?

about 85 and 5100 feet.

I'm pretty sure he was flooring it, from the look on his face, but his traction control was pulling power. Did you read the part about 6 inches of slush?

4WD and 300 hp make for a great combination in Michigan winters, until the nanny computer takes over. Then more traction will beat anything with traction control.

Being that my CRD is my DD I am always "testing acceleration" at stop lights. Good for intake cleanout and VNT operation and its fun!
I notice that big SUV's are slow at first. But mostly they are surprised a Liberty is challenging.
I had a chance to out pace a 3.7 Liberty on a steep grade from speeds of 50 to 70 MPH one time. He knew I was aligning for a race and I did notice him go to a downshift. Turbo did that whiney noise and the outcome was obvious!

Oooh how I just love them turbos ... especially when they whine naturally when given the stick. Just like girls!
