Hello,
I have ESP/BAS and Stability Control lilghts coming on randomly(maybe). Lights go out and stay off at restart until next event. I have read that it might be a Wheel Sensor.
The dealer could not get the event to repeat and the stored codes do not indicate what caused the problem. However, it happened twice again yesterday 80 miles apart.
What should I say to get them to replace the Wheel Sensors? or other?

Are the slotted discs rust flaked away to the point where the do not produce a signal?
Are the wheel bearings loose?
Are the wiring harnesses to the sensors damaged?

All of these items can fool the code reader.

I will investigate those issues. I am not sure what I the slotted discs are yet, but I will figure it out. I don't even have the proper tools to remove those big chrome wheels the previous owner put on.

I am not sure if your post is directed to me.
If it is, I have Amer.Racing 18x8.5 with Toyo 255/55R18. These wheels and tires I believe are smaller in diameter than the factory setup, but they are a bit fatter around 1.125"?. They were put on by the Original Dealership and they do not appear to rub anywhere. I am not the original owner.Mitchell

Had the tires been way outsized, the ESP would have had trouble with the ratios and applied torque - there is a TSB to cover that, usually applied to those off-roading - might check to see if that TSB has been performed on yours, as anything that messes with the wheel sensor ratios different from oem tire sizes will likely cause problems with ESP - that binding thump on brake release is prolly partially causitive - '05's don't have that added headache, with our primitive pick'emup red-neck RWAL system (snicker)

Had the same problems with all the associated idiot lights. Dealer fixed it under warranty first replacing the wheel speed sensor and later the harness. Something about it being installed wrong. I wasn't paying much attention to be honest since it was a warranty repair.
