I bough a new hitch to solve the spare tire problem and also bought a new ball with the 1 1/4" shank that is torqued to 450 ft lb. Which is best: 1) Blue Loctite? 2) Antisieze? 3) Dry? 4) Light Oil? |

I torqued mine dry with my 450ft-lb gun. You want some friction to hold it when the coupler is rotating on the ball, but you want to be able to remove it with the same 450ft-lb gun too. - Chris |

when i hook up to the boat i judge by the spare tire to get it centered up then i get out and open the door and finish backing up. when i get it all hooked up i cut the wheel hard to the right and pull up a bit then i get out and close the door..... |

This hitch was supplied by Towing Products, Plymouth, MI and has up to 1,000 lb transfer (more than I need) and 10,000 lb capacity (should handle 7,000 lbs). The 10,000 lb ball I picked up today is from Curt Manufacturing, but not in the photos yet. http://picasaweb.google.com/warp2diesel/TrailerHitch |
