Had them replace my fifth one this week. Yes, I've replaced one twice. That's 2.5 per year.

What happens after my 36/36,000? I get to replace a window regulator on my dime with every oil change?

Does anyone have any pictures of these deviously cheap little parts? Any options for fabricating a stronger one?

Beyond that, to speculate on your question: Doesn't the dealership offer at least a 1 year warranty on provided service and replaced parts? Any warranty at all for what they are putting in your truck?

What are the signs of a bad window regulator? My driver window is starting to "clunk" as it moves up, but there has been no loss of function or speed in closing

I think it could be related to it coming out of the bracket it's glued in by the bottom. Mine would literally cock forward and bind. I had to have the dealership fix mine at 30K. I think they took it out and reglued to the bracket. My passenger side one needs that now, but I'm at 50K and this one would be on my dime; unless try to do it myself and use a better adhesive to secure it.

Rear passenger window has gone on mine with less than 7,000 miles on the clock. Was only raised and lowered about 6 times! Wife's has gone as well @ 15,000. No warranty in darkest Africa :(

My CRD is at the dealership right now getting the left rear window regulator fixed. #4 on that side. What really makes me wonder is I don't even use that window anymore and it still fails.

It's the German's contibutution to the Liberty. They go out on VW, BMW, Audi and Benz as well. It's just something that the Germans are not good at. If/when mine ever go bad, I would replace the regulator with aftermarket for SPAL or Electric Life.

I relubed the track and the glass channel and all my problems went away.

Somehow I don't think Germans designed the window regulators on a Jeep.

All you need to do is look to who used to own them........

When I replaced the first one on in my Wife's TDI New Beetle, I asked the dealer if they were going to put them in a vending machine with the power window switches     The other side, I did the rebuild kit and fixed it too but the windows always acted like they were slow to move up and down. When I found the problem with my Wife's doors that are German designed, that was causing the problem , VW stock dropped.

Chances are that the window regulators are failing from not have the factory weld the tracks or align the tracks and regulators properly. It does take some skill that some can't be trained to develop.

Mine don't seem to bind or labor so I have not replaced any yet.

Do you have more information on these replacement options? I feel exactly the same way. I don't want to replace junk with the same junk.

With a class action suite VW refunded all previous repairs (with reciepts) and extended the warranty on them for seven years regardless of miles  Companies that put out crap should have to stand behind it :D

Again, I am pretty sure Germans did not design them. You would be amazed to find out where some things are designed and produced. Take wire harnesses for example. Some are designed in Spain others in Turkey. You really have to look into where something is designed and then manufactured.
