I have 52000 on my liberty and i really dont want to pull the wheels off and check my brake pads.... |

I replaced my brakes and rotors at about 75,000 miles. I drive a ton of highway miles so if you drive a lot of city probably won't last that long. When I changed them front pads had a good deal of pad left, rear pads were shot. |

Do you need to do that? What kind of wheels do you have? I can easily check mine by peeking through the wheel to the brake caliper (yes I could on the KJ). |

I did my fronts around 45k and the rears around 50k. I did probably about 3-5k miles worth of towing though as well. |

I replaced my front rotors and pads at 75,000 and also the rears I also replaced the guides that the pads slide on and the rubber boots that the caliper bolts go through they require some high temp grease The kit only cost around 6.50 from orielly but it made the reaction time of the brakes seem much quicker and got rid of the slight squeal at complete stops. I have never replaced those part on any brake job but I am glad I did it seemed to help. Plus don't forget to replace your brake fluid every 2 years. |

I replaced mine at 38k...and I SHOULD have replaced them at 35k. Rears were terrible, front could have lasted a few more miles. |

I have 47K miles and my rears are at 50% and the fronts at 75%. Rotors look good. |

my front and rear brakes were replaced at 85000km when we pulled them apart to change i could have gotten about another 15000km out of them done in my garage by my friend who is a former chrysler mechanic for 279.00 canadian mostly highway but also a lot of towing approx 3200lbs weight of boat on trailer |

53,600 miles Just did them this week. Rears were shot ! Fronts weren't too bad but I replaced any way. 80% highway miles. Rotors and pads (ceramic), about $300 plus 3 hours of my time. Very easy job. I took my time. |

70,000 for me. Lots of highway miles though. The rear pads were the worst on mine as well. |

Rears at 37K and looking at fronts now for about 43K I am looking at the DBA rotors from Tire Rack, not sure which pads yet. |

I'm at 53K miles. My dad and I replaced both the rotors and pads this past weekend. The fronts had about 50% life left and the rears were at about 40% life. It seemed a little early, but the front rotors were a little warped. I wanted to take care of it all at the same time so that I wouldn't have to worry about it. I went with the EBC (slotted and dimpled) rotors and EBC green stuff pads from Autoanything. Things are still in the break-in stage, but it does seem to take less pedal effort to stop. |

40k, rear rotors and padshad to be replaced (at tire change). But only rear, front was fine. Why back and not front, you might ask? So did I until I watched my wife drive 5 minutes and THEN take off the emergency brake! Extra $300 for the rotors and brakes shall be taken out in trade...

...actually the parking brake and disc brakes are separate systems. The parking brake is actually a drum brake with a little set of shoes that press against the inside of the rotor. I had no idea of how the parking brake could engage the disc brakes until changing out the pads and rotors last weekend. So while leaving the parking brake engaged while driving around doesn't affect the disc brake pads directly, it can sure put a hurtin' on your mpg.

Just replaced my rear brakes this past week also. I had about 34000 miles on them at the time and they were wiped. Weird, I'm use to the rears lasting twice as long as the fronts since most of the braking is done by the front but oh well no big deal to replace them at least. |
