| Post subject: | Turbo not spooling up |
Last night I drove my CRD to work and noticed it apparantly has decided to be naturally aspirated. I can't hear or feel the turbo spooling up at all and the car has an obvious lack of power and is shifting a bit erratically (revving a little higher). I thought maybe I was just losing my mind, but it did the same thing on the way home. Any ideas? I haven't driven the CRD a whole lot recently because I've been enjoying the Mercedes in the fine summer weather, but the few times I've used it it's been good. I did an oil change 1 month ago myself but can't think of any way that would cause the turbo to crap out at the exclusion of any other problem, plus have driven it twice since then without problems. Other than that nothing out of the usual. I wish I had a boost guage in this car ... just haven't gotten around to installed one. What should I look for? Could it be an air restriction problem? I want my boost back. |

Have you changed the Turbo hoses yet? even with the Provent mine blew ~40K miles. you normally hear a pop when it blows - but after that - not a lot of extra noise and no power The oil from the CCV weakens the hose & it splits. |

check the map sensor, I think one of its jobs is to control how much power the turbo puts out. Please correct me on this though, not sure. Also, look for oil around/on the turbo. When mine went bad it blew a seal and there was oil all over the turbo and the side of the engine. |

Are you sure that it's getting enough fuel? You may want to try pumping the plunger on the fuel filter head until it gets hard to pump. |
