Post subject:  Rotella - Where?

I swung by my local Wally World yesterday to pick up the ol' Rotella 5w40 and they didn't have it. They weren't out, they didn't have a spot for it anymore. So where are you guys getting it now? Everywhere seems to have tons of 15w40?

I did see an empty spot for gallon jugs of 0w40 Mobil 1 too

I'm able to get mine at Murray's Auto Parts. The price of the oil there was pretty much the same as it was Walmart when I had got some there. They're part of the Parts America chain which also includes Advance Auto Parts, Checker Auto Parts, Schuck’s Auto Supply and Kragen Auto Parts. You might be able to find one of these near you.

Rotella 15-40 is dino oil in the white bottle, not recommended for our CRD's  Good stuff but not synthetic. Have you tried differernt walmarts? I found one is an upscale neibhorhood has it most of the time and ones in workig class hoods are always out of it  The one I frequent even HAD mobile one diesel truck oil ONCE :!: When I finally do find the 5-40 in the blue bottle I stock up for a few changes because it's difficult to find  But I'm marking it harder for the next fellow to find it

I saw the gallons of rotella synthetic at auto zone. I think it was 18 bucks a gallon. They were within a buck of wal mart.

I've used this Wally World for the last almost 3 years with no issues. They probably weren't selling much of it in my neck of the woods (Northern Virginia) as not many diesels running around. I've been running the 5w40 Rotella since about 10k miles.

I usually try to stay way from VatoZone since I'm a former Advance employee, but will have to swing out that way if they are carrying it.

all the Walmarts around me have it, but it recently went up to $20 a gallon. I was in Advanced auto this morning and they have it at $19.99.....

Speaking of oil and Wak mart, they have listed as a oil filter for the CRD the Motormaster #2005, I took a look at it and it seems like a robust filter, approx same size as OEM Mopar and with a silicone valve...anybody have any experience with them? The also lista couple Fram filters that are halfthe size of the Mopar and I wouldn't run a Fram anyhow.

Maybe its a regional thing....I'll have to go back in there and quadruple check.

Schuck's auto parts out here on the West Coast has it.

If it isn't available, or the price has gone up to $20 bucks a bottle, I'd look into the Valvoline Premium Blue 5w40 diesel, and the Mobil 1 5w40 diesel. Last time I checked, the Valvoline was like $18 a gallon out here, and the Mobil 1 was $22.

RTStabler51....are there any Tractor Supply (TSC) stores around nearby ? Rotella 15W40, 5W40, and 30W are always on the shelves in KY.

I run the Mobile1 5w-40 Turbo Diesel oil. Only problem is finding it in gallon jugs. I typically end up buying 7 quarts.

No one ever seems to mention local bulk distributors. Check your Yellow Pages for one. I get a lot of lube products from a local bulk distributor and I don't have to buy a "bulk" amount to get the products. My local distributor stocks or has access to all the Mobil, Shell, Kendall, Schaeffer's, etc products and few others. Now it is true that I also buy 30 gallon drums of Mobil Delvac 1 engine oil for my semi, I can also get cases of quarts or gallons of just about any product I want for autos and equipment that doesn't use a lot of oil. They'll sell to anyone. You don't have to be a commercial buyer.

My Walmart just started carrying this and I have it on mine for the first time. So far so good.
