Poor mans provent

Is it not better to stick with an EHM where no vapour / oil is sent through the inlet rather than a poor mans provent
that is using a pot scourer or steel wool as a seperator and is surely allowing a percentage of oil to pass through.

If emission is not the issue, would EHM not be a better option?

Any thoughts.........

if a poor mans provent is done right it should catch about all the oil vapor.... hot
steam comes out cools and condenses in the canister... air up fluid down... mine
works just fine and nothing harmful goes into the atmosphere or on my driveway

it is not a filter like a air filter it is a condensing canister like on a alcohol distiller

My home made provent works pretty good. I cant say it traps 100% of the
oil but it gets the majority. My canister is clear/opaque so I can see how
much gets trapped in there.

I believe that the provent type is better than the EHM because it keeps the
crankcase under a slight vacuum.
In theory, a slight vacuum helps improve ring seal and oil control.

At work we have these white, oval shaped (~6x3 inch) filters used for a
breathing apparatus, similar to a scrubby pad but a lot less dense.
I have four of these stacked and folded, packed on top of ChoreBoy-stainless
steel pot scrubber.

The ChoreBoy is where the vapors condense and drip to the bottom, the
filters trap everything else.

My canister is plastic with a wide...

I clean it out with solevent every oil change.
I clean the filter material too and replace about once a year.
