It happened a couple of weeks ago, a little old lady (85 years young) ran a red light and hit me going through an intersection and I ended up "flipping" the jeep 2 or 3 times per witness accounts. The other driver and I are relatively OK. I sustained a concussion and some good knocking around, but no broken bones or open wounds. In retrospect, the CRD protected me quite well. She got airbags and walked away.

Anyway, the CRD is totaled and my insurance payout was quite fair. So, my CRD experience is over. I may have some service items like filters and such up in the for sale area sometime if you are interested. I did converse with Sir Sam about the salvage, but ended up not exercising that right due to the damage and because it would take longer to get funds to apply to a replacement vehicle.

I wanted to THANK ALL OF YOU on this forum for all the ideas and solutions. The synergy here is excellent, and I don't think I will find another forum for what-ever vehicle I replace it with that is of this quality.

I'm still in the evaluation of what is next, TJ rubicon unlimited seems to be the most promising. I don't think anything in that class will have the towing like a CRD, but there really is no other diesel option (affordable to me), which you all are quite aware. So, back to a gasser if I want to continue 4x4 and daily driver. I could get a used CRD, but after all the cobbling of solutions, I still have a paranoia that the engine could leave me orphaned or poor if something serious were to occur.

Once again, thanks to all.

You can borrow mine once in a while if you feel a "turbo" withdrawl symptom needing a fix.

sorry to hear about losing the CRD but luckily no one was hurt and you got a fair price for it
