Post subject:  Removing rear sway bar...

How do I do this? I've got an '05 CRD Sport. I'm just trying to maximize my off-road potential. I do about 80% on road driving but if this is a simple mod, I figure, why not?

So if anyone could post a description with or without pictures, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks in advance,
-Barry-

This should be the same as in the gas KJ's - I'd check in the 4x4 and off-road forums on this site.

Post subject:  Sway Bar

I'm new to the KJ world but in my TJ I never had to do a rear sway bar disconnect. I did get extended sway bars to match my lift. If you plan on doing this quite a bit, say once a month or so, I think I would check out a thing call TKsliders. I know they are made for a TJ but I would think he could make them work for our KJ's as well. It allows you to remove a pin and let you articulate more without actually removing the SB. Then when you are done you put the pin back in and go.

Remove all the bolts :D Links, bar, brackets, just take all of it out. Loosing the rear sway will help nicely with rear articulation. On the street it will drive the handling balance of the jeep from understeer toward neutral or potentially a tenandcy to oversteer. You should be familiar with these terms and impact on handling before making these changes with any confidence.

FWIW the up-country pkg on the old cherokees deleted the rear sway but added stiffer dampers and springs which likely negated the handling difference.
