| Post subject: | In Tank Fuel Pump |
I looked at the discussions regarding adding an in tank fuel pump for the CRD. However, the intank pump (Cumins) is on a national back order. (unknown if there is a manufacturing problem or maintanence problem). Does anyone have a point of contact for them? Anyone using an out of tank/in line pump? Issues or problems? thanks! |

They are on national back order from the dealers... But you can get them online at moparpartsamerica.com.... I got mine in a few days... Several people are using inlines... Just get a flow through when failed one... So fuel can still be pulled through if it stops working... You can use the stock wiring for an inline too so you still have the prepriming ability and everything controlled by the computers like the in tank option |

Have you tried MoparPartsAmerica - they're pretty good http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214583 - for inline systems - there have been several with the Kennedy pump and 1-2 with a Facet - search for Retmil46 or BlacklibertyCRD - may be easier than the intank version - but doesn't look as factory. or http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=25299&highlight=lift+pump+install |

I know this is not the ideal place to install the pump but would be easier for me to remove if i sell her oneday. Is there any other place in the engine bay that i can tap power from that would work the same if i had fitted the pump at the fuel tank and used the existing harness. |

What, with Dodge Corporate and Dodge dealers and Dodge truck owners and now Jeep owners crying for those in-tank pump systems, I 'spect that little company is hard-pressed to keep up with the increased demand - try yer local boneyard for additional relief of the recently-created fuel lift-pump module vacuum......................... |

Black Liberty's suggestion is to pull the fuse for the "prime" pump in the power distribution module, stick the plus wire for the pump into the slot then push the fuse in. Couldn't get any easier and quick to remove |

Although discontinued, the Airtex E7181M is still available from Auto Parts Giant. I got mine for $131.71. Supposed to arrive today. |

I install an external one under the back sit under the jeep the one that I use is the Master E8012S, you can get it any where and is a free flow, if it stop working you still can use the CRD. It give an steady 3 1/2 to 4 psi with the Ranco filter. Very happy with it. is been there for the last 8k miles. with no problem. |

Black Liberty's suggestion is to pull the fuse for the "prime" pump in the power distribution module, stick the plus wire for the pump into the slot then push the fuse in. Couldn't get any easier and quick to remove I followed BlackLibertys method using the Facet pump. I made a bracket to be attached to the engine and bought all the brass fittings for fuel line attachment at the hardware store. Ran one wire to the battery (ground) and the other to the fuel pump relay (doing the fuse trick didnt work right). Just wraped the wire around the appropriate post on the relay and put it back in the socket. Works great. Turn key on, pump comes on and runs for about 15 sec, then shuts off. Turns itself on again once engine is started. Cost: ~ $60 Install time: ~ 1 hour |
