Post subject:  Suncoast, oils and 16 hours later

So yesterday I installed the suncoast, transgo, and changed the front and rear diff oils..

I started at 9 am and rolled out of the garage at 12.35 am...

All in all I would rate the transgo shift kit at a 7.5 or 8... Wasn't hard just meticulous... Many torx bolts to work with...

If it was just the TC would have been a 4 or 5 and been done much quicker....

Front diff oil looked like chocolate milk, back was nice and clean... Replaced front and rear with synthetic mobil 1... 75w90 in the front, 85w145 in the rear with the limited slip additive....

Feels like a nice smooth truck now no shuttering... Shifting is more even... And I think it locks up earlier...

Well worth the time and money

Good job - also, milky fluid sounds like the front end has been under water - if a seal is not leaky, make sure the breather tube is connected and attached someplace above the oilpan line

Hi Inferno,

How is the TC and transgo going. Can you add comment on how its performing please, MPG improvements if any, etc.

And if the tranny hooks up a lot better with a lot less slip! That drives me crazy!!!

all is going well... i have the resistor on a switch and use it when
towing.. it causes very harsh shifts when the tranny is relearning,
then after it has learned it slams into gear... i am also going to
start using it for the highway... seems like it stays locked longer...
down to about 55 mph in 5th... which i like...

as far as mpg i am getting about 24 mostly city (60 to 70 %) and
i have not had it unloaded on a long highway trip yet... i moved
back to CO from PA a week after i installed it and towed a trailer..


towing is much nicer with the new TC.. i towed 2 tons of stone in
a 6x6x12 trailer with the stock TC...it did not like it much... just
yesterday i towed a 6x6x12 with all my belongings in it, not 2 tons
but in a heavy uhaul trailer, it towed much nicer and it pulled up
the hills like no other.

The oil in my front differential at 10k miles also looked like chocolet milk :cry: And it's never been in water over 2 inches deep :wink: Is it possible they put in dark brown oil to gegin with?

Has it reduced the slip in the tranny when accelerating? Can you notice a big difference when not towing?

for defication and laughter today i drove around with the
switch to let the resistor do its work...

first off when it the switch is off i can hardly get my trans
temp to move on the gauge, with the switch on it rises to
160 to 180 with ease if not locked up and 140 locked..
dunno if the heat is good or bad but it makes sense with
the increased hydraulic pressures.

and b... acceleration from a dead stop is prompt and quick
with no signs of slipping... but there is a noticeable bump from
gear to gear..

hope this helps.... and if anyone in the area wants to feel what

I've been pondering the Suncoast upgrade vs. having DC replace the TC for a 3rd time under the 7/70,000 PT warranty. The current TC is already doing the shudder at 50 mph, pulling a trailer loaded with a Polaris 800X2 ATV just aggravates it further.

I know for sure I will need the Suncoast upgrade before upgrading my Rocket Chip engine ECU tune from level 1 to level 2 and replacing the entire exhaust from the DP back with a magnaflow muffler with dual out 3" exhaust

Are you using a neutered or non-neutered transmission ECU? What tune are you currently running on your engine ECU? Have you euthanized the cat and stock exhaust yet?

Stock (I think neutered) TCM, stock ECM, stock exhaust. Working on the funds for more.
