Has anyone removed the leak-prone quick connectors near the tank? Can they be eliminated with a section of fuel line and a few clamps? Also, wouldn't you only have to change the supply side and leave the return side alone? Finally, what would be the best way to cut the steel line in this tight area without crushing the line? I want to install a pump near the tank and eliminate this leak source.

Thanks for the help!

I replaced them with fuel line when I dropped the fuel tank to install the in-tank lift pump. You pretty much have to drop the tank to get to the connectors on top of the tank
