Neither. Do a search, it has been discussed.

I use the M1 301 from Mobil 1 much more capacity and it is a synthetic filter element plus one of the strongest case of any oil filter on the market. Ditto the above statement.

My limited, lazy research has concluded Wix is best.
I buy the fuel, air, oil and transmission filters from them.
Wix 33647-oil filter, find a local supplier or buy in bulk and ship them in.

I don't recall seeing the motorcraft 2005 filter getting "dissed" it is a silicone valve and seems well done. What is the issue?

Those Frams look like crap..

Don't worry about it, I did a search and it appears you are incorrect, most speak highly of the Motorcraft filter.

Fram sucks. Motorcraft is decent (OEM quality).

Best bang for the buck are Wix/NAPA filters. Next up would be Purolator Pure Ones.

Some people run Mobil 1 filters. I'm not that rich. NAPA for me.

I believe that over on Bob The Oil Guy's web site, someone did some fairly serious testing of filters based on oil analysis after a few thousand miles. Same vehicle, same oil, same fuel, different filters. Wix/NAPA and Purolator came out near the top.

Yes, put the discontinued filter for a Ford Focus on your Jeep. It may fit but it doesn't make it right. What's the bypass valve opening psi rated at? I'm not saying the Fl-2005 is a bad filter, it's just not right for the application. Fram lists a different filter for the CRD than it does for the 3.7. Chrysler does also. Wonder why?

get an Amsoil filter and leave it on for 12000 miles with no worries. Fram is a no go for sure...

what does the Fl-2500 have to do with anything?, the 2005 is the Motorcraft recommended for our CRD.

Exactly. Some of the filter brands didn't spec a separate filter for our diesel - they just simply listed the same filter that fits the 3.7 V6 gas engine - for the simple reason that both engines use the same thread and gasket size for the oil filter - they saved themselves a few bucks by not having to make another style filter.

Purolator is the cheapest alternative that actually makes a specific filter for our CRD's, that matches the OEM filter in physical construction and layout. Fram does also, but then in my book Fram isn't even worth mentioning.

Trasko is the way to go, pure cleannines for the engine...
