I'm about to drop the fuel tank to put in a lift pump and I'd like to replace what I understand are plastic fuel lines. I'm a little unclear on what is exactly needed. From one post I saw a "Napa Fuel Line Repair Kit" but when I went to Napa that info was not specific enough to sell me anything.

Fittings on metal fuel line are female. I think I need one male fitting to 3/8" fuel line and one male fitting to 5/16" fuel line, some hose and some clamps.

Is this correct?

How do I spec the right male fittings?

The Dodge lift pump is direct fit to Jeep supply and return lines - if using external pump and eliminating plastic lines, just replace the supply line only with 3/8" rubber hose and clamps - the return line is ok as-is

I am installing the Dodge lift pump. Notwithstanding the direct fit, I was under the impression that it would be good to replace both, what I understood to be, plastic lines. No?

Replace the lines only when improving the oem setup with the CP3 drawing from the fuel tank, or to facilitate installing an external lp - the oem Jeep lines exactly fit the Dodge lift pump

I like the stock quick disconnect although I hear they may leak over time.
Gmctd is the authority on lift pump changes.
Have you gone to the CRD tech and done your homework and read up on this?

I'd agree with gmctd on this one - fuel is going to be pressurized as soon as it leaves the tank with an in-tank pump. The big worry with the quick disconnects was air leaking in when sucking fuel thru under a vacuum.

Wouldn't hurt though to put a little oil or silicone dielectric grease on the connections when connecting them back - help keep the o-rings in good shape.

But if you really want to get rid of the plastic lines and go with rubber hose, then it'd be 3/8" ID hose for the supply and 5/16" ID for the return lines. NAPA does have high-grade diesel rated fuel line - not the cheap gasser stuff on the hose rack, you'll have to ask for it.

Plastic fuel lines have the female part, metal lines have the male half.
