Getting an '08 Grand Cherokee diesel later today. Two cool things... 1) wife thinks it's her idea... 2) $200 less than what I paid for the KJ in March '05... It will be her vehicle, I'm keeping the KJ until the doors fall off, then getting a roll of duct tape. |

Clarkston Chrysler Jeep (Clarkston MI) 248.620.4200. Yes they had one more, a black Laredo. My price was steeply discounted because there are a ton of employee incentives at the moment. They were trying to entice people to leave by giving $25k vehicle vouchers as part of the buyout. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/11/29/business/29chrysler.html?em I didn't take the buyout (my second job fell through), but took advantage of the discounts available. |

I'd love to have a GC CRD, but they are still awfully expensive, even with the deep discount. I only paid $19,000 for my KJ, and I thought that was a bit steep for a used car, I just wanted a diesel. |

Good thing you managed to pull off # 1. That way, if you run into any KJ CRD-type problems with it, you can always remind her it was HER idea! ![]() |

There is a blue 08 Laredo 4x4 CRD at a local dealer that the wife gave me permission to check out tomorrow. I'm 2000 miles out of warranty and the fuel head won't pump up so I can bleed it anymore. A lift pump would suck to do right now so a new vehicle with a warranty seems like a nicer option. If it's a nice deal with the right financing it should be the same payment as I'm making now. It'll probably be gone by the time I get there tomorrow though. Jason |

It is interesting that the GC CRD seems to be finally selling when the price is cut 10-15k, bringing it down to around $ 30 grand or so. If Jeep had not been so greedy in the first place they would have sold a ton of the GCs at the lower price instead of having them sit on lots until the tires had flat spots. Replacing a 25k vehicle (the liberty crd) with a 45k vehicle was an example of beyond stupid marketing and is a particularly good example of "Big 3" thinking. |
