Post subject:  Warning Obscene Photo

You a may be asking why a pic of my odometer crossing 100,000 miles is obscene...well I crossed that benchmark with;

the original brake pads
original muffler
original filter head
original belts and hoses - including the CAC hoses
original battery
original torque converter with plastic stator

My only modifications or replacements have been:

tires and timing belt
funny amber light on dash signifying the orm is working properly
Darby's window stickers

The obscene part is that I have had virtually no problems whatsoever with this vehicle. Sure it gets a little air in the fuel sometimes, but bleeding it occasionally solves the problem. I posted this not to inflame someone on the board that has had problems with any or all of the above, but to provide encouragement to those who have not had any problems but feel that at any minute their Jeep is going to explode.

My thanks to all the members here that provide so much valuable information and help to each of us. I may not have had any problems, but I am so much more informed about my vehicle and better prepared for any future problems should they arise.

Many owners have worked very hard to give these KJ CRD's the bad reputation they have, and now here you go tryin' to mess it all up with one post and a pic - anyway, I'd bet that pic is photoshop'ed....................

Your going to hell now for sure! 100,000 miles stock? It must be ready to fall apart at any minute. Better bail now!

Kudos Widowmaker! :)

I hope to follow in your ruts.....though I'll keep my SEGR instead of the ORM operating indicator.

I am at 92,000 but with only new brakes front and back.

I bet there is no vehicle inspection in NC.

I freakin' wish!!!

Being Coast Guard, he's probably out in the coastal region - still a lotta long open stretches of nothing but flat roads out there. Marsh/wetlands = no towns = no stop signs.

I'm halfway there! Went through a set of tires and done oil changes every 12,500 w/ Rotella synth (also changed the air filter each time). Transmission oil was changed during a recall at about 20k. Figure it's about time to do that again.

What's everyone doing about the xfer case and diff change intervals? I changed the rear diff and xfer case at 47k with Amsoil synthetic. I don't wheel but I do tow.

I also went 40k on the original fuel filter

Lost the EGR at 13,500 but she's been running like a top ever since. Mileage has been slowly going down but I haven't cleaned the MAP in forever.

If the Big Three only made a decent car.   I loved my '92 Sable but hated my '96 Taurus. I put nearly 200K on the '96 though and besides tires all that got fixed was one brake job, one alternator and the multifunction switch. The last two items were end of life issues.

4 sets of rubber already? What are you doing, burnouts at every light?

I've got almost 30k on the set on my CRD now, and they aren't anywhere NEAR the markers yet. I figure these will last me for about another 25-30k before they need... To be rotated. :D

Yea, I have 30k with no changes whatsoever. I don't rotate my tires anymore, I quit doing that on my last car when I was buying sport tires and wearing off both shoulders before the centers... On all four at a time. Rotating didn't help, they were directional tires, and I drove like I was doing autocross all the time. That car was a lot of fun tho. :D

The rears are wearing a *little* faster than the front, b/c of the rear drive. I might swap front to back if I get around to it, but it's not a priority. At 60psi on these load range E commercial tires, they are wearing just fine for me. Well worth the $112 each.

I have 120K miles on the rig. Had a EGR replaced early, but no problems since installing a Provent. My goal is 300K miles. Timing belt and water pump replacement is the next investment.

I expect a gasoline engine to run 300,000. If I were you, my goal would be ½ million

CRDs should run a bunch of miles with no problems
I mean I have one of the lowly gas 3.7s and have over 114,000 and the only thing replaced before 100,000 was LBJs of course and an idler pulley, original rear brakes yet, front pads were still good when I tore it down at 105,000 but put the new ones in anyways,

so who has the highest mileage on a CRD???
Been looking at one for an extra toy
