So the wife and I are doing some shopping at the local mall and freeman (The new car dealer) is showcasing some new cars in the common areas of the mall. That is when I see a Mini Cooper Clubman..........and I fell in love!!!!!!! AAAAhhhh the barn doors on the back the duel rear wipers the 3rd door for the kids and best of all. ITS WIFE APPROVED!!!!!!
So I need your help before I jump. I don't want to give up my stock Libby CRD sport that has 23,500 miles on it but I will have to in order to swing the finances.

How can we get (and REGISTER) a diesel mini with the EPA nazis guarding the ports?

I've been wanting to import a diesel like that for a LONG time, but can't figure out how to register it.

Hey, if you're okay giving up what the jeep provides and swapping it with a mini, then so be it. To each his own. You will be taking a wash on the finances, though. That goes with any new car. Just remember, you can't tow a jeep to the track with a mini on a trailer, but you can do vice versa :)

Hang big fake coils on top of the injectors and tell the EPA that the injectors are spark plugs

Since I own both a CRD and a Cooper S, I have to reply. The CRD satisfies my 4x4ing and towing needs and the Cooper S more than satisfies my go fast, sportcar urges. The Mini is a great car, but totally different.

Convince her you need both! 8)

Okay, but that still doesn't answer my question. I would LOVE to get my hands on one of the inline-5 cylinder VW Touareg TDIs... But (of course) only the retarded V-10 is offered in the states. So if the dealer from Montreal brings one in, how can I register it in the USA?

If I find myself living in Vancouver, I'd be THRILLED to take advantage of that guy's services... But the USA is still the problem, unless there is a way to register it.

A mini for your wife?

Sounds like a fair swap

You'll regret getting rid of your Jeep, especially if you replace it with something akin to a roller skate.

Well for those of you who think the car is for my wife it is not. It is for me. So far I I am leaning to keep the CRD. The CRD gives me more possibility for more toys (pop-up camper, Boat, Dirt bikes and 4 wheeling.) Mini is not going to do any of that I know. I have been looking at used cooper s and some of the older ones are not that much $$$$$!!! You have admit chic car or not the Cooper Clubman is a slick car.

BY THE WAY.......THANK YOUR FOR YOU UNBIASED OPINION....LOL..

So you've got a late model low mileage liberty to trade :D Your going to take a bath big time on the trade  Your idea of a older mini and the crd might work. Also consider getting her a used Jetta tdi  Both the Jetta and Liberty are considered "chick" cars. My young wife of 43 years likes both jetta's and jeeps and prefers diesels.

No bath people....... If the they dont make the numbers work the way I want I will not buy the car. I AM A CAR DEALERS WORST NIGHTMARE.     When I tried to buy a Peruis I had the sales guy up to $15,900 after about 3 days of hammering on him and the sales manager. they would not give me 0% for 36 months so I walk. They still call offering 1.1%.
