My fumoto will save the aluminum threads on the oil pan.
The hold back is what is bothering me.
Every time I am supposed to do an oil change it comes to mind.
Has anyone cut the fumoto shorter or drilled a hole in the threads above the oil pan threads?
I know it holds oil back because I removed the fumoto after draining and lots of oil flowed.
No I did not measure it.
It just seems wrong but I lost the old bolt and it only bothers me when it is time to change the oil.....

I have the same concern. I just bought my fumoto and when I install it at the next oil change about 1/4 of the circumference of the threads approximately half the length will be cut out. I'll report how it goes.

To me, worrying about a little oil in the bottom of the pan is like worrying about someone peeing in the ocean while your swimming in it.

Just change the oil, smile, and enjoy life.

:)

You're probably right. :) It still bugs me for some reason...so I'm going to cut up my fumoto and see how it goes.

You have 5 quarts or at least 160 oz's in the pan. At the most you would have left is maybe and I think its stretching it a bit would be 8 oz's. Not really worth worrying about. It would worry me more to cut off the threads because if it ever came loose it would be that many threads closer to coming all the way out.
