Thanks guys for your input, but I'm embarressed to admit a lot of it is over my head in terms of what exactly to do next. (The motors I actually really work on still have points!) (Vintage Formula Ford racecars) So, what would you suggest I propose to either the dealer or Bruce at Webb Auto Electrics as a next step. How does one determine if there is a problem with communicating with DRBIII? Thanks As Always, DOC |

Looks to me like the 3120 is for OBD1 with some OBD2 capabilities (the manual goes into great OBD1 detail) - the other series are OBD2 with limited CAN capabilities, prolly no KJ CRD capabilities - that appears to be why it won't read the KJ Autoenginuity reads OBD2 thru a standard cable\adaptor - it reads DCJ enhanced OBD2 (CAN) thru a separate higher-priced Enhanced adaptor You'll need to either take it to Mr MoService for a real scan, which will verify communications, or at this point, I'd compare the price of a dealer scan to the price of a ScanguageII, which is a real OBD2\CAN scantool, not a simple DTC reader - the difference is what you'd actually be paying for a compatible stand-alone scantool |

I was able to successfully communicate with our CRD ECU with a recent version of VAGCOM. Innova tech support has indicated that they are sending a different model scanner for me to try. Will report. DOC |

NurseCosmo, Does your 3130 communicate with the TCM or just the ECM? Thanks, DOC |

Innova sent a 3030 reader. Initially and on a second try, it came up"green", all is well. Then, I hit a few buttons, it changed to "yellow" and then read the same three codes as VAGCOM. Tried again after a pause and it immediately read the same three stored codes. I am awaiting a response from Innova. DOC |

I have not downloaded the custom codes for the CRD because I don't have the proper serial plug on my computer to attach the cable to the Innova unit, but I'm assuming that if I did I could see live transmission data just like I can with the engine. |

Does the 3130 allow you to reset codes? Does it show any live readouts like a ScanGuage? It really looks like it could be useful. |

Darby, Please post ASAP when you receive your 3130 as to whether it will read your '06. Innova just told me that I can keep the 3030 they just sent me at no charge (which seems to work). They claim that the 3120 and 3130 are identical, except for the "real time" feature, but my 3120 won't read the Bosch ECU in our '05 CRD (or the TCM for that matter). DOC |

Hey DOC4444 I noticed on the Scangauge II web site: http://www.scangauge.com/support/Compat ... cles.shtml that the Scangauge II may not work for somethings if you don't have the recall ECU software update. Would this have been done with the F37 recall? |

Would this have been done with the F37 recall? The flash for the transmission that preceeded F-37 by about a month caused all third party scanners to not work and were out of compliance with the EPA. This flash did most of the damadge to preformance that the official F-37 did. The fix for the lack of communication was F-31 They did both of those flashes to mine then the official F-37and I can verify late versions of VAG-COM did not work before F-31 but works fine now. |
