Hello all. Im about to buy a CRD and I was wondering whether anyone (that anyone might know of) has ever swapped out the 5 sp slush box for a euro 6 speed manual gearbox.

AND WHY THE HELL DIDNT THEY OFFER A MANUAL TRANSMISSION HERE!!!

Well I was actually being rhetorical. I heard the reason for no manual gear box was that it was easier to make a slush box pass emissions!

...for whatever reason, the tow rating is also higher with the automatic. I would have chosen the manual myself as well.

This makes sense to me because in an automatic, the fluctuations in boost pressure are smaller and it's easier to do EGR.

Well bugger, all the Joe-Bobs (no offense :D) on this here site and nobody has even heard of a manual transplant into a US CRD?

Autos are always rated higher.

Burnsville is doing a CRD into Wrangler swap with the 6 speed
we'll see what kind of solutions they come up with.

You will if you want those little white lights to turn on when you back up, or if you want cruise control to turn off when you push the clutch. Also I think the manuals (at least in the US) all have part time only transfer cases while CRD's all have full time.

There will be a whole list of little details...

Honestly, this is something I want to know about too. I don't see any reason to invest in a Suncoast, etc., if I could swap out the auto for a manual. If it was at all within my means I would go that route, because I 100% think it would be worth it.

Does anyone know of a conversion? Seems to me that if someone did that they would DEFINITELY be on L.O.S.T.
