I'm in the planning stages of trying to upgrade the transmission. I plan to install a Suncoast and shift kit. I have searched and I have some confusion on wether or not I need to also replace the pump in the transmission. I have a 06 CRD would it have the new style or do all US models need the new pump? I will start ordering parts in the next couple of weeks so I can get this done when the weather warms up a little.

Thanks in advance for any information. I just want to get this all right the first time.

I know that you at least need to replaced the pressure relief springs in the pump that comes in the shift kit. A dealer tolk me they wouldn't do a t/c without the pump because of internal sealing to the t/c. I don't know how much of that is true.

OK, that makes sense to me. Where is a good place to order a pump from and what is the part number for the correct new pump model.

When I did my Suncoast install, i put in the new pump. That solved my "cant use reverse until the fluid pressurized" problem. I believe a new pump is a good plan for you.

GMCTD suggested extending the breather tubes of both the transfer case and the tranny up to a higher point.
Some have replaced the rear drive shaft Ujoints with greaseable ones while the shaft is out.

While your are there why don't you replace your tranny oil pan for a larger one, it will be a good idea for the cooling of the oil and don't forget the Trasgo kit HD2 and also get a tranny Manual Part # 72400A. You can buy the filter P#72010B and the other filter P#72013A. , Black RTV sealant. All of these you can get it at a good price on www.bulkpart.com ( Pump #68009879AB).

Well I have a Skid Row skid plate to install so I don't want a deeper pan because I don't think I would have clearance.

I have been doing a little reading and it appears to be some peoples opinions that unless you install the resistor when doing the shift kit you don't really see much change. Is this true? I hadn't planned to install the resister because I don't want the harsh shifting. And if this is the case is there any point in doing the shift kit with out the resister?

harser shifting yes... but my resistor is on a switch... i use the switch for towing... don't notice the harsh shifting when towing... and you get cleaner shifts and less slippage.

Did you do the install your self? And when you have the resistor switched off can you tell much difference over stock?

When I had the regular shifter everytime I went in to the xpressway the CRD went from second to over drive without going to the others shifts.
when I install the trasGo, the tranny shift normal.

05..... When you did the installation of the switch did you get the wire from the tranny or from somewhere else.
