Post subject:  Imediate Help Needed! Turbo Boost Air Intake Temp Sensor

Hey all,

Engine light came on so the Fiance' took the CRD to the dealer. Apparently the Turbo Boost Air Intake Temp Sensor is bad. All full of gunk apparently. She is there right now and they have the part in stock. $230 installed. I tried searching but couldn't find any info. on this item. Is this sensor required? Are there any work arounds to omit it? I know some of you guys have figured out some amazing mod.'s for the CRD so I thought I check before dropping the coin.

Thanks,

Randy

If they referring to your MAP or MAF sensors then rather whip them out first and give them a good clean before allowing them to replace them.

Agreed. A spray can of MAF Sensor Cleaner is about $3 at an auto parts store. MAF can be popped out with a phillips head screwdriver, combination MAP/Temp sensor with 4 mm allen wrench - give'em both a good cleaning and that should cure the problem. If not, you can always go back to the dealer.

Dealers are trying to make up thier lost income in the shop. That price is way overkill if it was to be replaced.

Yeeouch. Yea, what he said! ^^^^^^^

Don't give them any more reason to be known as STEALERships... It certainly sounds like the MAP sensor, which is a prime candidate for sludge buildup. That thing should be pulled and cleaned at every oil change, it collects so much trash.

I had to put one in mine earlier on, it was around $50 bucks if I remember right. Maybe cheaper??

Post subject:  Definately a steal...

I paid $48.00 at the dealer. Don't order it online. The MAP sensor part is not listed properly in the Chrysler diagrams. Even the dealer may not get the part right. I had to take it out and show them. They gave me a 20% discount because I had to wait an extra week for it.

Unfortunately, cleaning mine didn't help. It was shot. All the codes for Turbo Under pressure and EGR valve went away after a new MAP sensor went in...

It's too late. The woman paid for it and had it taken care of before I had my say. That wasn't the total cost though. It did include some diagnostics and trouble shooting. It appears the EGR valve is probably bad also. She brought home the old sensor so I'll clean it up and I'm just going to swap them every oil change so I always have a clean one in and it should extend the life of the new one.

Your fiance needs to be lashed for doing that, now the stealer has claimed another victim
