Are you able to auto clear cel codes with the scangauge? As in set it to clear the orm cel on startup.

I can clear my codes anytime the engine is running with SGII.

He's asking can it be set to automatically clear codes on start up :D

either on startup or shortly after. From what i understand is that it only checks at startup (for a working egr) reading over the scangauge specs it says it is programmable with custom "code". Meaning what? Looked all over and got nothing :(

The ScanGuage will check codes and monitor for them while running but it will not auto clear them and it will only monitor for someplace between 10 minutes and an hour before it locks up. Also, it will periodically dump you from 5th to 3rd gear while driving 70 MPH. NO FUN. They also seem to not want to reply to emails on the subject of wheter they have fixed that problem.

Back to the codes. It will read the codes if you ask it and you can then manually clear them.

Yabutt it doesn't auto-reset either, does it? And if you kept it connected (really no reason to like on the ScanGuage II) what's to say it wouldn't shift it into 3rd at 70 MPH too?

Here is the response I got from Linear Logic back in May 2008 regarding the issue. Basicaly they are denying that there is an issue.

David,

Sorry for the delayed response.

It's possible there could be an compatibility issue. If it's possible could you connect the ScanGauge to a different vehicle and see if it has the same problem. If it appears that it has the same problem with a different vehicle it would suggest there is something wrong with the ScanGauge.

The ScanguageII works fine, lasts a long time - problem is the KJ CRD system, labeled as 'hybrid' by DCJ, with special exceptions and sanctions due to the separate stand-alone ECM and TCM - 'nuther words, it's not a true CAN system, so while SGII is not a totally satisfying oobe, it is not their failure - nevertheless, it is still a good self-contained scantool for OBDII and CAN, and I would recommend it to anyone until something better comes along - pcware scantools are more versatile, tho, and more user-friendly than DRBIII and STARSCAN - and, much cheaper at ~250bucks

I'm absolutely certain SG would address our problem if 10000 KJ CRD owners purchased 10000 SGII's and quickly lodged 10000 complaints vis a vis the noted failure - everybody up for it?

I agree that the SGII is a great tool and while I can't use its advanced features on my CRD it will someday conect nicely to some other vehicle that may lurk in my future. In the meatime it works just fine to read and clear codes.

I could not get the SGII to last my 35 minute commute. Best case it lasted a rather disappointing 20 minutes. Now I don't really care whose fault this is but the reality is that this device clearly not compatible with our CRD so Linear Logic should not be marketing it as such.

For sure they know there is a compatibility problem because there has been enough documented customer interaction indicating this but rather than admitting it they skirt around the issue. They should either be removing this vehicle from their compatibility list or at least clearly identifying that there are communications/compatibility issues and list any other related side effects thus allowing consumers to make an informed decision.

A statement of intent would be nice as well which I'm sure will be "we have no plans to spend the R&D dollars necessary to support this niche application"

Does LL list the Liberty V6 and the Liberty CRDiesel? SGII is compatible with gasser (patooie!) systems, incl #1 son's Toyota, and #2 son has no problems with his '06 Big Horn Ram CRDiesel automatic with 4W-ABS

Neb' mind - I found it

Hey, Scott at ScanGuage just replied to my email. No solution to the problem and likely will not be. It apparently impacts not just the CRD but other Chrysler products.

He offered that if I had purchased it directly from them they would give me a full refund. I told him that could still read and clear codes and it might work on my next car unless it was a plug in electric.

That sucks. I still intend to buy one (for my VW), but it would be nice if it worked a bit better for the CRD as well.

Post subject:  ScanGuage n CRD

I bought one.
I like it.
I wish my CRD liked it. :(

SC locks up partially or fully after 15 -20 min local driving.

Trans makes a big clunk (thought I hit something) and Tach jumps. I was doing 45 in cruze. By the time you realize what's going on it's over. Scarry!

I haven't tried it on the T Pike yet.

Quick code resets

The creader from harbor freight auto clears the codes and I always leave mine plugged in. Clears the codes before I get out of the neighborhood in the morning. Best 40 buck I spent with the ORM being free.
