Post subject: | Increasing Boost/Reversing Flash |
Every time my Jeep goes into Dealership it seems to come back with less grunt. There was a definite change some time ago and I haven't been happy since. Boost used to come on all at once and really throw you back in your seat, now it comes on gradually and is quite boring. Another time the car came back and then doesn't seem to get full power until the car is past 1/4 on the heat guage. The last time I got the car back there was a cut in power and an even gentle application of boost. I just want the car back to how it was when I bought it..... I have asked the dealer to put the flash back to what is when I got the car and they said "it can't be done".... I'm not sure if it can't be done or they won't do it. Either way I want my grunt back. Please help! Can I wind the boost up a little or can I get the original flash back to what it was....? All thoughts and knowledge would be appreciated. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

SUNCOAST TC and INMOTION SII or EDGE Trail\equiv, and the ole buns dyno will no longer be denied the thrill of the turboDiesel experience - try it, you'll like it...................... |

best bet for 'original' performance is an Inmotion tune - or a power module (Edge, Dr. Performance ect) the dealer can only download the 'latest greatest' from the mainframe - they don't have earlier rev's |

I'm in OZ but I'll look them up.... Do you only need a scan tool thingy (like what the dealer has) to up the boost? |

Ash have you cleaned your boost control sensor? If it is dirty it could give you a perceived loss of power. Should be done every 8000km or so. If your in Sydney I'm happy to show you how to do it. |

I went to do it, had trouble getting it out so I just asked the dealer to do it. They did it and this was one of the times the car came back feeling worse than when it went it.... even the wife commented after driving it! I'm thinking they may have done something to it... either way I'm thinking of replacing it with a new one (I've heard they are only $60 or so) or at least learning the removal/cleaning process. Yes Glen, I'm in Sydney (Rosebery). Let me know if you want to catch up one night and we can go through it, happy to travel. PM me. |

This is a great piece of advice. The plastic stator in the torque converter will not handle the torque of a fire breathing VM. I did the Suncoast to handle all the power developed when the Inmotion or EDGE Trail was done. However, when I cleaned the MAP, disconnected the MAF and a few simple goodies, the motor developed enough power to cause me concern that the children would wreck the motor in a crash or hurt themselves. The kids are almost gone. The Inmotion will be my first power enhancer. Gmctd is the man when it comes to diesels. His fingerprints are everywhere. Check out the Tech pages too. |

Ditto on the ORM and cleaning MAP sensors. I'm wating to do Inmotion tune, but I thought eventually w/ the EDGE or other chips the ECU would learn around it and the power gained would eventually fall off? |
