I'm used to the AC compressor cycling in other vehicles when the defroster is set to "on," the temperature is at any range, and/or the AC button is switched to "on."

On my 2005 CRD, if I have the heat turned up (temperature range control set high, or at least warm), I can't get the AC to kick on no matter what I do with the defrost control or the AC switch. Took it to the dealer, who flashed new software to the ECU, then claimed that everything was working as it should. "Show me" says I.

Turning the temp to cold, the AC compressor would cycle on and off, using either the AC button or the defroster setting. But with the temperature control turned up, it wouldn't come on. When I pressed them as to why, they weren't sure. So the bottom line was that they are telling me everything is as per spec., but they don't know what the spec is.

How is this supposed to work?
