I hate to drag all of you into this, but this is the only place you can get good service advise on the CRD. So here goes my rant. The little lady is driving the CRD and blows a CAC hose. The CRD is on the 36k threshold, but never fear, I had the foresight (or lack there of) to buy the extended factory warranty, the hose should be covered. Dealer still does not want to cover it because I have a provent, so like a good husband I arm the little lady with the Magnason-moss act. Any half-wit knows a provent will only prolong CAC hose life. The report from the little lady states, the dealer is claiming over boost blew the hose. How can they test for over boost with broken hose, with any form of accuracy? Dealer wants 330 USD to fix it. For 330 USD, I believe I could buy the SAMCO hoses. Anyone here remember where that link is? Before you say get off your lazy 4th point of contact and fight this one yourself; I am in Iraq, and I have to have the little lady act as my proxy. So do just tell her to garage the CRD order and install SAMCO hoses when I get back, or do I fight the dealer and their extended stupidity? A bleak future for Chrysler may be just what we need..... Good riddance to lousy customer service and half truths. Thanks |

Have her explain to Mr MoService that the hot oily blowby vapors from the CCV deteriorated the cheap rubber compound of the oem Boost hose(s) for some period of time before you could get the Provent installed, which removes the oil from the vapors - add that the Provent is factory-authorized upgrade to all Diesel lines sold by Ford dealerships, indicating it has full EPA-sanction - add that this is a common failure with the KJ CRD as mileage accumulates, to which SAMCO responded with the formed silicone hoses - insist that Mr MoService run his fingers around the inside of the Boost hoses, the turbo compressor inlet, outlet, charge-air cooler inlet, charge-air cooler outlet, AFC valve inlet, etc, to get a sense of what actually caused the deterioration, softening, and inevitable rupture of that Boost hose(s) |

First, thanks for your service! Keep your head down over there, come back in one piece. Where in Georgia is this? Savannah, by any coincidence? Take a look at the Turbo thread active right now to see the fun I've been having in Savannah, and know that I just spoke with one of the local dealers about my warranty that MOPAR decided at christmas that I didn't have any warranty anymore, even though I have HARD COPY of the VIP reports to prove that it was active. They have offered no proof of why they are saying it is gone, and nothing to explain. Just that the VIP reports now say that the 7/70 powertrain warranty is instead a 3/36... And is therefore expired. With support like this, I'd hate to see what the treatment would be like if they didn't like their customers. ![]() |

I would fight the bigger battle another day armed with the warranty if unfortunately something big like a Flow Control Valve or EGR needs replacement. The CAC hose is about 45 bucks the last time I replaced mine and I did it myself. It stinks to have to suggest this, but sometimes I don't have patience for those dealers that nickel and dime. |

Geordi-- I am in the Augusta area, I too have a hard copy of my warranty and a receipt from purchasing the extended bumper to bumper, I guess this is missing warranties are part of their desperate swim for land plan.....BTW thanks for kind words about me doing my job. I don't make a ton of money but I like my work, despite the hazards I wouldn't quit. If you are in Savannah, I might have to swing down and look you up for a trail ride when I am back in town. GMTC-- You are a tech guru, and I have copy and pasted your response into an email for the little lady... many thanks (please don't hammer me for copyright infringements) . DZ_LOU-- 45 bucks for a hose, how do they equate that to 330? ![]() Again thanks |

You might also try another dealer, perhaps one that sells Dodge trucks. |

Does your command have an ombudsman or family services rep back in the States where your wife is? They might be able to hook her up with someone in legal services who could at least advise her how to proceed or even run interference for her with the dealership. If this dealership is truly trying to dodge their responsibilities under the warranty and/or engaging in other unethical practices, especially in regards to service personnel and their families, having the command drop a not-so-subtle hint that if they don't clean up their act they could be blacklisted from doing ANY business with government employees or service personnel, can often produce dramatic and quick results. As for any business that would knowingly try to take advantage of a service member's family while they're overseas in combat...... well, let's just say Darby would have to delete this entire post if I used vocabulary suitable to express my feelings on THAT subject. |

Very common practice during the Vietnam era. I really learned what discrimination was during that time. Some things, sadly, never change. |

I have a dealer 1/2 mile from my house and I drive 12 miles to the next closest one just so I don't have to deal with the idiot service writers and trained monkeys they have at the one near me. Dan |
