Looks like I need a new boost control solenoid!

I just got back from a trip to Montana yesterday and it was snowing and blowing this morning. So I took her to work and everything was fine. Started on my way home and she flicked on a CEL. She lost a lot of power and had to shift down on most hills. Checked the ECU and P1252 and P0299. Cleared the cel but no power and cel didn't stay off at all. Got onto LOST and read up on the pesky little CEL. Checked CAC hoses and nothing. Read that the solenoid is the problem. Now I need to decide if I want to take her to the dealer (still under warranty) or just buy the solenoid here

What say ye?

If I order from them, I will order a few of these

I checked mine and it was a little restricted. That could have caused the solenoid to go bad :?: She flows now with a little reverse airflow.

Hope this helps someone else out so they don't have to dig too much.

16 appears to be indicating the modulator solenoid, where 15 appears to be indicating the reservoir solenoid, just opposite of what is designated in the drawing - the #13 filter is on the exhaust port of the vacuum modulator - as designated, the solenoid controls vacuum source to the reservoir - the modulator solenoid is pulse-modulated to regulate vacuum levels to the turbo actuator - vacuum out of the reservoir solenoid should be same as vacuum in, ~ 25" at idle - vacuum into the modulator solenoid should be same as reservoir vacuum - vacuum out of the regulator solenoid should be ~15" at idle

I have about 25 i: from the reservoir to the the reservoir solenoid (#15 in the picture) Coming out of the solenoid is 0" I guess I found the problem!!! Thanks GMCTD!!!

The only issue is that the vacuum jumped to 25" out of the solenoid and then dropped to 0" again. The needle bounced around for bit in between, almost like the solenoid didn't know what to do, open or close.

The vacuum reservoir solenoid (#15) is more expensive so I am going to make chrysler pay for this, since I am under warranty.

I guess the DTC was 100% correct on this

P1252-VACUUM RESERVOIR SOLENOID SHORT CIRCUIT
In my case it was the vacuum reservoir and not the modulator solenoid.

Remember: intermittent connections give same symptoms as intermittent solenoids - check the wiring and connector pins to both reservoir and modulator solenoids

since the reservoir solenoid runs 25" in and out, I ran the hose over to the other solenoid and checked the second solenoid. Bingo! 15"! It is definitely the reservoir solenoid. I tried disconecting the solenoid last night. I couldn't see how the connector came apart in the dark so I left it alone until I can get to it.

Dealer fixed it. They replaced both 15 and 16 from the pictures. They may have thrown in 16 because it was cheap. I am not convinced that it was bad. But she runs great now.
