look a bit and you will find more info provent filters oil out of your recycled air going into the intake lift pump provides positive fuel head pressure instead of a vacuum |

There are much more qualified guys on the forum to answer your questions but I can give you a quick run down on what I have found. gmtcd's link is the best place to start looking. The provent is an aftermarket filter that guys are attaching to their crank case vents (CCV) to filter the fumes that come out of the crankcase before they are piped right into the intake causing a sticky oily film to be coated all over the inside surface of your intake components. Try pulling a boost hose and looking inside to see what I mean. You can also just do a Elephant Hose Modification (EHM) where you just run the crank case vent to atmosphere but in either case you have to watch that these mods. don't freeze or plug up on you which causes excessive crankcase pressure which has lead to serious consequences in some cases. The lift pump is a low pressure pump that guys are adding in or near their fuel tanks to help eliminate the common problem of air in the fuel lines. There are a few different brand and great install ideas procedures around here Both seem like good modifications to me, I just haven't gotten around to them yet I don't know when I ever will. If you are new to this forum you should read about the leaking fuel filter head warnings and check yours. This is a common source of air in your fuel lines which causes rough running especially when starting cold. hope this helps, I like to see fellow Canadians around here. You explained it like an old pro 
One comment to add is the Chrysler wired the CRD for a tank-side fuel pump all the way to the harness beneath the rear seat, complete with a labeled fuse in the panel. It'll help with a lot of driveability issues related to inadequate fuel supply. Dan |
