Ok just a quick one my power steering fluid is low (cause I live in Australia we got the 2.8 CRD in 03) well that is my model and the book states "Mopar Power Steering Fluid (MS-5931)" in my fluid bottle it is amber to dark orange. Do I have to use the MS-5931 to top it up cause the ATF+4 which is the MS-9602 is what I have in my shed and if I can use this it will be easier for me. Here is a link to a TSB I found: http://dodgeram.info/tsb/2003/19-005-03.htm but it states that the MS-9602 for an 03 KJ Liberty should have been put in in at the factory but that fluid should be red in colour and as I stated mine is not it is amber to dark yellow/orange. Any ideas on what I should be topping it up, do I need to make a trip to the dealer again for special mopar fluid or can I get another powwer steering fluid from somewhere else or just use the ATF+4 Mopar stuff that I already have. Thanks in advance |

Low power steering fluid could just mean your brake pads are getting worn down. |

Yeah but somehow I thought the brake fluid in the brake fluid resevoir would not be connected to the power steering fluid in the power steering resevoir. Sorry but the power steering fluid as far as I know is low for some reason but I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with my brakes. |

...... and most of the newer ones use Power Steering Fluid. On my old 73 Chevy, I switched over to Power Steering Fluid with no problems and ran it for over five years. A few of the exotic German made BMW, AUDI, and Mercedes use some $25L junk because their Engineers wanted to try some new type of seals in there Steering boxes or Rack and Pinions. I did ask the Rack rebuilder if they could put the Audi ones in a vending machine I would go to the manufacturers web site for the Power Steering Fluid and see if it complies with Chrysler specs. I would bet ya it does. If you have a problem, use it to hang their @$$. |
