My oil pressure light came on the other day when I slowed down at a traffic light. I turned the engine off an checked the oil and found I was 1 qt low. I added the qt and the light was off. On my way come it flashed twice. I changed the oil and filter and today I have the same issue. I started the engine and looked down the oil fill tube and it looks like there is oil in the top end. I checked the wires going to the oil sending unit and they appear to be fine. Has any one had any issues with the sending units or the oil pump? |

The sender is the mostly likely problem, but you won't know 'till you check the oil pressure with another gauge. For your purposes, it can be temporary. |

Harbor Freight has an oil pressure test kit for $20, and the sender is like $65 at the dealer. Not a bad kit, it threads right into the sender's socket behind the oil filter on the passenger side at the bottom. Easy to get to. If you don't have a Harbor Freight near you, I'll happily send you my kit for $20 shipped. I only used it once, and I don't expect to be using it again anytime soon, I'm going to install a REAL oil pressure gauge with the new engine. |
