I understand that the CRD has cylinder liners just like a lot of the OTR trucks and like the Dodge and Fords have. I had a 7.3 Powerstroke that has "wet liners" witch means that the coolant runs right around the liner which causes cavitation. There was a required additive for the coolant to keep it cavitation from damaging the liner. Does the CRD have a similar setup? |

Check your pH. Should be 9.5-10.0. I have pondered using a water filter like the big rigs, but we don't run 10 to 20 hours per day and the water filters for the big rigs may be too much of a good thing and not be the right amount of additive to adjust the pH. Make sure the antifreeze you use is good for the aluminum head, it is more sensitive than the wet liners. Take care of the head and the liners should be fine. |

The coolant itself is special - don't think you need any additives. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=29347&highlight=antifreeze |
