Called up BD Power yesterday to check on getting one of the X-Monitor setups for EGT and Boost. while we were discussing CRD's, he mentioned that they had one they were using for testing with an Edge module on it. I went "Huh? Edge is making a module for these too?" He replied yes, they were one of their distributors, and they were doing beta testing on the Edge module.

So there's another aftermarket goodie for our little diesel in the works.

As an aside, discussing EGT's with him, he said thay had a pre-turbo EGT gauge installed, and when I mentioned the TST readings, said they weren't seeing anything that hot on theirs, said that those readings had to be with the TST module, that TST modules tended to run hot by dumping in more fuel.

So many choices, so many different stories.

If that's the case, I'll hold off until the EDGE Product becomes available, hopefully in the form of The Juice w/Attitude. I have their Juice w/Attitude in my 2003 Dodge RAM 2500 Cummins Turbo Diesel and it's sweet.....it's advertised at 125 rwhp gain and mine provided 124 rwhp. The Attitude Monitor has a complete array of gauges...so the "Where will I put gauges?" issue will be at rest. I also had an EDGE EZ prior to the Juice and NEVER had a check engine light come on my CTD.

The Attitude can be set to de-fuel given a certain boost level, trans slippage, or EGT.....all kinds of safety precautions are built into it. EDGE has the best products in the marketplace IMO.

Keep in mind that its fuel that generates power. More fuel ~ more power ~ more heat.

Some of that heat will appear as an increased EGT. How much depends on a number of factors.

The moment that the module de-fuels it no longer meets its advertiersed power levels :evil:

Increased air flow will assist maintaining EGT's. This can be achieved thru;
1. increased boost at that load setting
2. improved exhaust flow
3. improved induction tract
4. NOS
5. water vapour

The easiest (and least determental) are #2 & #3. Be aware that foam type filters are not TD friendly! Also consider fresh clean air. This can be an issue with a 4x4 if its used off road (some times you will also be presented with dirty water + air). Ensure the air intake is well clear of water levels likely to be encountered (this probably means fitting a snorkel).

Increased boost may not be possible at all engine load points. VG turbos (and controler ECU) are very boost increases. Dont think you will get away with a lot in this area without precautions, otherwise expect some wide fluctuations in boost (up to 10PSI) and corresponding ECU codes.

Ideally the module should be adjustable, either via manual control or via software, to suit your specific vehicle configuration. The one I have fitted its, and only took a few minutes to install.
