What fuel additives work the best to increase the Cetane rating of Diesel fuel ?? :?:

You can try splash blending in some B100, that's if B20 or such is not available retail from the pump.

Other than that, you have to call the stations themselves and see what the cetane rating is, if they know, and use the one with the highest rating. If they don't know, it's pretty much trial and error, trying a tankful of each to see which performs best.

Only other method would be to add Power Service, Redline, or some other such cetane booster. Power Service seems to be the most widely used, is carried at large truck stops and even Wal-Mart.

Why do you want to increase the Rating. If it is for Fuel Mileage the best way is to buy Biodiesel either a preblend or blend it yourself or find Fuel with a higher Cetane Rating, Arctic Diesel from Flint Hills has a higher Cetane rating and I get better mileage with it. Diesel additives that raise the cetane rating do not always have more BTU's per gallon so the mileage does not always increase with them and if you work the numbers they do not pay for themselves even if the mileage was increased it is not enough to pay for the cost of the additive.
