Post subject:  TransGo = More Heat?
Ever since I installed the TransGo (no resistor), it seems as if my trans temperatures have increased about 20 degrees. This could be due to the outside air temperature and me being paranoid, but just curious if anyone else has noticed this. I am running the 'cheap' Advance ATF+4 and have considered swapping the fluid out to a more reputable brand. Just looking for outside input. My fear is that the TCM is countering the heavier springs and making the trans slip more thus creating more heat.

You should have the exact opposite happen since the heavier springs keeps a more positive pressure which in turn equals less slipping.Ambient air temp could have some to do with the raised temps,could be more slipping going on in the TC which is the main cause of heat build up in auto transmissions.

When I was in Bozman, Montania the temputure only reach -10 degree, I thought the trans would never warm up enough to shift to final shift. I had to drive at least 5 miles on I 90 towing a trailer before it would do so.

I know. I didn't consider the TC. I do tow frequently...maybe its time to bite the bullet and get a Suncoast.

Is there a way to tell its the TC slipping vice the clutch packs?

There should be NO TC clutch slipping in the transmission. If there were you would see it on the tachometer under lockup as an increase in rpm which does not correspond to speed as you goose the accelerator.

A Suncoast, with it's lower stall speed should run cooler while moving down the road but will run hotter in stop and go or at stop lights because of the increased turbulence with the tighter vane angles.
