What is the warranty on a 2006 Liberty CRD? Is it 3 year 36,0000 or has it increased. I am getting conflicting reports.

3/36 on a Bumper to bumper. Certain emision components go higher, but basically, we got the shaft compared to the 2005 model. Course, they got the bad TCs too so it's a toss up.

Some manuals, mine, include something about a engine warranty that takes over after the 3/36. However Chrysler has never accknowledged the exsistance of it. To me it looks like something left over from the 05 manual that didn't get edited out by the off shore company that rewrote the manual for 06

There was also a DC advertising thing where Dr. Z announced on TV a 100k mile warranty on diesels engines. But DC claimed that was for the Dodge Cummins diesel only.

Some here claim the EGR valves are covered for 80k but my manual specifically says 24k like it would have for a 05 model year. :?:

But unless you have a extended warranty it's 3/36 bumper to bumper on the 06 model year. Unlike the 05's that 2/24 bumber to bumper then a 7/75 power train. Take your pick who got the better warranty
My Chrysler extended warranty is transferable with a fee and is for 7/70 and at the time you could get it for just about any limits bepending on what you wanted to pay.

If my understanding is correct there is also the 7/70 (maybe 100,000 mile) power train warranty as well. However, with the 2005 model, this warranty was transferable(for a fee) to the second owner of the vehicle. With the 2006, only the 3/36 bumper to bumper was/is transferable.

05s are 3/36 bumper to bumper // 7/70 Powertrain
06s are 3/36 period.

Emissions components are supposed to be 8/80k IIRC.

Reading my manual that only refers to California and DC did not sell any new CRD's in Califonia

Right'O. I posted this link a week ago or so. It would be nice if it were though.

Interesting. I always though it was an 'Emissions Warranty,' but understood it was up to interpretation.

That is very interesting on the EGR, as it is considered an integral part of the emissions system. Obviously by everyone EXCEPT the beancounting wonks at Chrysler however.

But yea, the 05 had a 3/36 and the 7/70 from the factory, 7/70 transferable for $150. 06 owners really get screwed b/c they get the same bad components... But only a 3/36 b/c Chrysler realized what bad parts they had chosen, and like any good MBA-driven company, decided to shaft the customer rather than fix their blunder.

That 8year/80,000 mile emission warranty is federally mandated by the government, they also stated that the cat's and PCM are the only parts covered,Chrysler has nothing to do with not warranting the EGR as part of the emission warranty past 3/36 warranty. This the same for all new vehicles no matter the brand, they can choose to add to but can not take away on that warranty.

Back to your original question......3-36 although some were sold with incentives that inclded a 2 year extension. I bought mine with that incentive in Nov 2005.

You make it sound like a conspiracy. IIRC they reduced the warranty across their entire product line for 06, not just the CRD. On the other hand, maybe crappy components apply to the entire product line as well :(
