| Post subject: | CRD stuck in Park ? |
This morning it took me 3 to 4 mins to get my jeep CRD out of park? No CEL's and when I finally came out it was like nothing was wrong. Any ideas? |

The brake interlock cable was the cause. |

Is this going to be an intermittent problem? Or do I need to replace something. I love my CRD but with 65K miles I'm starting to not trust the darn thing. |

This has happened to me and many other KJs. Search posts for more details, but , when it happend to me, I pulled the shifter lever cover off and repositioned the cable end piece to fix the problem. It may happen again , but it only takes 30 seconds to fix it! |

I had this problem with my 06 CRD about a year ago. I took it to the dealer when the problem first started happening, and they "couldn't duplicate" and found nothing wrong (and they really do try try to help). I had to keep playing with the shifter until it would shift, and it kept getting worse, but wouldn't happen every time. Finally, it got stuck in park and had to be towed in. Fortunately I was in town and not offroad. The dealer replaced the "shifter block" and it has worked since but feels like the problem is starting to recur. |

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm I thought the recall was for the 42RLE transmission (for use with 3.7L). The link didn't work for me. The quick way to check for recalls is to go to the Jeep website and click 'For Owners.' There's a spot to enter your VIN and it will search for you. I recently had shifter seize up, but that was because I was driving like a bat outta through 6 inches of slush. I jammed up the engine mounts and everything - made an awful vibration. Had to wrench on the shifter to get it to move when I made it to work - left it there all day and had a pile of melting slush underneath at the end of the day but no more problems. |

unfortunately not. And she probably would let me get away with the crap I pull now. Spending money buying guns and such. But then again I might never leave the house if she was. |

Dealer replaced mine for free. To get around and out of park I just disconnected the cable and went on my way. |
