| Post subject: | thinking about a bypass filter... or a chip |
So, I've been thinking what I want to add next to add to the longevity and performance of the CRD. I'm torn between a BMK23-EA bypass filter from amsoil and a TS performance MP-8 tuner chip. A few questions on both for anyone in the audience that may have them: - If I install the bypass near the factory location, how do I change filters without changing the oil? Is that dependent on having it mounted higher than the sump to allow gravity to help? - What kind of real-world (mixed city/highway) mileage and efficiency do you see with the mp-8? - Do either of them have any potential drawbacks? Other than the cost, both seem win-win. Dan |

Hi Dan, I went with an easy bypass-filter solution: http://www.microgreenfilter.com/ I'm sure it doesn't offer the same level of bypass filtration as a dedicated setup, but it's also a very easy install. I'd buy this filter and use the money saved to buy a tune. - Chris |
