Sir! ,Sir?!? You cant use that pump, its diesel!

I've herd that several times at the fuel station.
It makes me smile, I usualy respond with "why?"

I dropped my CRD off for a new power steering hose. I bought it at carmax, got thier waranty (prolly a bad manuver).
Recieved a call from the service manager telling me I have a blown hose, and its "running kinda rough"
I told him it is a diesel, to which he replyed "Oh, that would explain it" Should I be nervous?

Any other stories simmilar?

some idiot kid turned off the pump when i was pumping mine the other day. He couldn't get it to turn back on either. only got 5 gallons.

I guess i should fill at night

I wouldn't bring any diesel to carmax. although if they break it they will just send it to the dealer to fix the mistakes.

I had a friend come running up to me yelling, "shut it off, shut it off, it's gonna blow!" after I cranked it up in his yard.

I would be. How can you work in the engine compartment and not know what engine something has? I'm hoping the service manager just heard it run and thought that, while the tech under the hood knew what he's looking at.

The service manager called in the morning to let me know he had the jeep. I left the spare key in the drop box attached to a barcode with all my info. He scaned the key, got my number and called. No work had been performed by them yet. All they had to do was replace a hose. I wasnt too scaird.

It did take 7 days to get the hose!

The hardest part was drivng the gasser chevy avalache rental they put me in.

@OP I guess since i'm in California most of the time, and people here don't give a crap about each other, no one has ever said anything to me. (or maybe i don't look approachable?)

I've actually had conversations with people at the pump for 5-10 minutes and at the end they would say, hey that's a diesel? (these pumps are diesel only)

Sometimes people come up and ask questions, but it's rare. Never "HAI!! STOP!!!"

It's all good, i like people to know more about them because they are a great(best/only) choice for a multipurpose vehicle, but it does not bother me that everyone that sees it does not run up to me asking about it, you know?

Socal is stuffed with 24 inch lifted f350's and 37 inch mall terrain that never touch dirt. (witch is fine with me they look nice but, what's the point?)

I actually tried to stop someone with a CRD from getting fuel at the wrong pump. He was using the commercial diesel pump with the extra 8 cent tax on it. I tried to tell him he was at the wrong pump, but he did not want to listen. He goes: "no... no it is a diesel." I say: "yeah but you are paying the comm..." then he got all pissed and started swearing at me. So I left him there to pay the stupidity tax and went on my way.

... so they would stop bothering her. That way all she has to do is point and tell them it's a Diesel.

No one has tried to stop me yet.
If they do I will tell them it is a Diesel Gravometric Drive Hybrid and 4 Wheel Drive is only for use around town and off road when I need to make tight maneuvers.

I get this all the time and NO ONE in Vegas talks to each other! They usually don't try to stop me but they come over and say, "Hey that's one 'o them diesel Jeeps ain't it?" Then proceed to pepper me with questions. I talked to one guy in a Duramax so long he was going home to buy his wife a CRD

Bit different here in the southern hemisphere, we still have what we call petrol jockeys that fill your tank for you, self service is still coming i guess :) but when they see a 4x4 vehicle arriving they normally usher you to a diesel pump, different mindset

I only get comments from f250 type truck owners that pull up on the other side of the pump and say "is that diesel?" and from the attendant when I'm paying I tell them the pump number they look out the window see this jeep and say "that's a diesel pump" , I just say "yes it is a diesel pump"

I get funny looks from time to time. Only had 2 people tell me I'm putting diesel in that thing. I just laughed and said " It IS a diesel".

Those stories crack me up, it's like you guys are hovering around in UFO's using alien technology. The EU market is 50% diesel, so there's no problem understanding driving around any diesel passenger car or SUV.

Funny how different the world is :)

The diesel owners here in SA look strangely at the petrol owners these days, diesel also very popular in Africa.

No one has tried to stop me putting Diesel in my KJ over here either, like UFFE said, most cars here are Diesel.

I whish they would change the names here in Spain though, Gas is called gasolina, which most of my clients seem to read as GASOIL.

So they fill up their TDI with regular...

Then when I ask them if they recently refuled: yes, about 30 miles ago, we got diesel 95....... Then get mad at me when I tell them they just made a big mistake.

Handled a Mercedes C 220 that needed a $4500 repair after they put gas in it...

Anyway, funniest thing that happened to me at the petrol station was:

'Hello, pump number 7 please'

'Ow yeah, that red HUMMER, right?'
:D :D
