Took the 05 liberty into the dealer yesterday(had appointment). Was leaking some ATF( i crawled under it awhile ago and it appeared to be the transfer case, also snugged the tranny pan bolts while i was under there) Dropped off the jeep told them that it appeared the transfer case was leaking, could they take a look, service fellow look up car info and it still had the 7/70,000 warrenty. I said yep, just let me know what you find out because there is a $100 deductable with it. I also told him that i had a leaky fuel head(where the heating element plugs in) and asked if he could look and see if there was any recall/bulletin or warrenty coverage for it. If there was, fix it, if not i would take care of it. Well 6.5 hours later(which was fine) dealer calls and tells me that it wasn't the transfer case leaking but the tranny pan and they snugged up the bolts. He said it may help and to keep an eye on it. I said it probably wouldn't b/c i had already done that once and i didn't seem to change anything but i would keep and eye on it. Then he tells me that the fuel head is leaking and that there are no recalls and not covered under warrenty. Gave me a quote to fix it and i tell him that i would probably take care of it myself. He said ok and that the car was ready to go. Go to the cashier topick up vehilce keys and she gives me a invoice for $51. I look at the bill and it shows they charged me this amount for looking it the fuel head.(all other stuff had N/C by it) I told her this didn't seem right b/c they were just going to see if there was an update/recall on it. She call the service guy up and he looked at the invoice and told me that the $51 was for both the lines of service. I ask him so he charged me $51 dollars to snug up 8-10 tranny pan bolts? He said no, it was also for looking at the fuel head. I said, no, i already told what was wrong with the fuel head. He said well it was for both lines of service. I said this is wrong and i won't ever come in for service to this location again. He didn't seem to care and left. I paid and got my jeep back. The more i've been thinking about the more frustrated i've been getting. Am i wrong in getting mad about $51? I guess i still live in the stone age when someone would bring there vechile into my fathers shop and something like this would happen it would be "we tightened the tranny bolts(which took about 1 minute) see if it helps. If not please come back and we might have to try something else. Or we didn't do anything but tighten the bolts on the tranny pan please comeback and see us or refer your freinds to us? I don't know am i wrong at getting upset? I don't think i would have had a problem if they would have just charged me 20 bucks for there time but $51 seems ecxessive. Maybe i'm wrong. Thanks

You aren't wrong, I'd be pissed too. They should be a bit more safety conscious and fix the darn fuel head at their expense. We shoudn't have to modify it to correct for Jeep's screw up.

That's BS I have replaced my fuel filter head unit four times because of the heater connection and not once has a dealer charged me for the part or filter. Now I have had to replace it myself but that only takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete the job. The last head unit had the new connector with redesigned seal at the plug plus shrink tube to seal the pig tail connection. I have not had any problems with this last exchange in 10k miles. Here are the part #s you will need 68043089-AA separator fuel and 68043086-AA wiring kit fuel both no charge my last one was replaced at 96,000 miles now I am at 106,500 miles. PM me if you have any questions or problems.

You might have had a chance of arguing the filter head look up, but once they put a wrench on something, the clock started ticking for the charges.

No, 51$ is a good deal, if you want to own a Jeep then you must be prepared for stuff like this. This is exactly why Chrysler are in the crud they in.
