I got a loaded Limited and I'm glad I did. Won't mean as much during trade in but I don't ever plan to trade it in. |

I'm torn. I searched for a loaded Limited for months before I found just the right one for me. I do love it, but I have now decided that it's too nice to mod very far. My plan is to give the Limited to the wife and get a Sport that I can go more extreme with. I guess my vote would be determined on what your plans are. |

I have a sport with the tow package. Limited was way too much money. I added skid-plates. The only thing I wish I had is a Trac-loc diff. You can keep the painted fenders and bumpers. Mine are all scratched up anyways. |

I went for the sport (because of the cost and the availability in europe) and modded it to take most of the limiteds extra stuff which I wanted. The only thing I would have wanted more than what I modded it with is the stereo. The sport stereo wasn't bad by any means, but who wouldn't like some more oomph in their stock car stereo?? I put cruise control and EVIC on the sport which is what I really wanted in my car. |

Since you can only get a used one..why not go for all the luxery you can get? I would have loved a limited...but couldn't afford one. Seat upholstery on the sport isn't all that good, wears and stains... Limited has real pleather! You get a nicer steering wheel with cruise / radio control...I got a plain black one with no gadgets. You get a nicer dash (uh...was that in the '05 also?) You get aluminium interior door handels, I got dull grey plastic. etc |

When I was looking to buy an new one the "low end limited" I got was actually cheaper then the sports the other dealer had But as mentioned already there are no new ones so go for a limited but then it all depends on the condition of what you can find |

Thanks guys. Mostly I'm looking for low miles. There are both sports and limiteds on auto trader right now with less than 30,000 miles on them. I'd like silver or white but it's hard to be picky when you're buying used |

My opinion, based on your signature, would be to go for a 2006 Sport. 2006's came with the overhead computer, foglights, cruise, ESP (I think) etc - the CRD was almost a package on the 06 rather than just an engine option. The build date on mine is 12/05, so it came with the different torque converter than the pre-11/05 build date models. I plan to change out the fender flares for Renegade flares and maybe add the light bar after I get some good All-Terrains to replace the stock Goodyear passenger-car tires. I've put over 20K miles on mine in the 7 months I've had it - about 4K of that with the ORM - and have been very happy so far. Averaging 26 - 28 mpg with 75% highway driving and 25% city. I saw one on Autotrader yesterday in Mobile, AL for about $14K with 30K miles that was light brown or silver. |

I didn't like the seats in the Sport. The limited seats are more adjustable. |

I don't like the "chrome" grill on the limited. I would gladly trade for a painted one of the same color. My wife loves the heated seats in the limited. |

I got a 2005 sport because that was what was on the dealer lot in Wisconsin. I started out actually looking for a Jeep patriot (yeah i know). But all 5 Chrysler dealers that I went to would only offer me 16,000 trade in for my 2006 jetta tdi. At that time the Jetta's retail value was 23-24000.00 and every VW dealer around here had waiting lists for them. Now I dont expect to get retail value for a trade in. I'm perfectly OK with dealers making a reasonable amount of money off a trade, but 8,000 dollars is a fleecing. So. I found a Jeep Liberty CRD online at a VW dealer in Wisconsin. We got to talking over the phone, and they offered me 21,000.00 for my jetta as a trade, without so much as seeing a picture of it. They also drove the Jeep from WI to MI and picked up my Jetta. I do wish it was a limited. I really would have liked to have an EVIC - still looking for one- and the wife would have loved the heated seats. But I am happy with what I have, and its given me only a couple of minor issues. A side lesson to be learned here is maybe if dealers would not be so greedy on trade ins, they might sell more cars. Chrysler had a chance to make 3000 to 4000 dollars off of my transaction, but they wanted to make 8,000 - 10,0000. In the end they made nothing. Sorry about the slightly off topic rant. |

I bought the sport because I didn't want the painted flares and bumpers. I added Leather power/heated seats from the junkyard. Thats the only option I wanted but couldn't get in the sport edition. I thought about the trip computer and NAV, but I decided that Garmin is much better at keeping their maps up to date than the factory ever could. Having the plastic bumpers has definitely paid off, The flairs would look like hell by now and I replaced my front bumper skin for $100, I'm sure it would have been 3-4 times that if I had the painted bumpers. |

Also CRD Joe, 06 were only limiteds, but came either base level limited or more upscale. |

Not to start an argument here Sam (I respect your knoweldge of the CRD and am following your MJ install) but you are wrong - I own a 2006 CRD Sport. Bugnout, have you had a difficult time locating KJ's in junkyards? I've tried 3 big ones here and they look at me like I'm crazy. Trying to find a donor Renegade. |

I know there was always going to be that guy, and you are right, there were some sports. And I've been thinking that they were all early 06 runs. (the large majority of 06s I have seen though were limited, it would be interesting to conduct a survey, but we probably would not have a very large sample to select from) Back when jeep had the "build a vehicle" online they were showing 06's as limiteds only, of course, sport could have been an option before I ever checked it. Or they may have simply built sports and shipped them, and if you ordered one you got a limited. I dunno, Jeep does some goofy things like that. |

That guy?!?!? Lol. . . I looked into getting one new from Jeep Warehouse in Indiana back in May of 2006, and you could order a Sport from them. Maybe there were more Limiteds made in 2006 than Sports or something. Mine has the overhead trip, mpg, maintenance, Temp/ Compass and Homelink thing (is that the EVIC?) with alloy 16" wheels and fog lights, but has the gray/black fender flares, body-color grill, and cloth interior with the no-frills black plastic trim and manual seat adjustment. No heated seats. (I live in South Louisiana - my butt is already warm enough) The build date is 12/05, so that would put it about 2/3 of the way through the MY run I think. I'm happy with it. I eat breakfast in it almost every morning on my way to work, and with the way I always end up with some scrambled eggs on the seat, I'd hate to see what it would do to the leather in the Limited. |

Hmm, in a limited you use a damp wash rag to wipe it off! Leather is WAY better for keeping things clean. |
