Seems to me the engine with proper attention can do that no problem. The rest of the truck, who knows.

The article mentions a million mile chevy pickup. It had five transmissions  That's only 200,000 each that does not sound too good  To rack up that many miles a good percentage have to be highway miles that are normally easy on a car :?

I have no doubt that someone who maintains and drives a CRD Liberty would have no problem getting over a million miles out of it. But that, of course, would have to be someone that doesn't trail drive, live remotely on rough roads, or deal with a lot of salt or calcium chloride in the winter.

The engine can handle all of this, but the body would never hold up that long except on hard roads and easy trips.

I plan on holding onto mine until it becomes a rust pile. I have no doubt that the engine will outlast the vehicle. I live rural on gravel roads and deal with a lot of messy weather. I doubt if I will get the million out of it, but I do believe that I will be able to use it for quite a while.

I have to keep it for quite a while anyway... no OEM is making a vehicle that I would consider to replace it. It fits the bill perfectly for what we need for a economical yet functional vehicle for rural use. Sure, I had to make do some mods that DC forgot about, but there is nothing else out there that has the all around functionality of my CRD Liberty. Diesel is a readily available fuel and, even though it is a little higher than gas, the fuel mileage makes up for it and it is cheaper to operate. Got 30 MPG on this ride on last weekend's trip. It tackles snow drifts on our roads quite well and has no problem pulling just about anything I have hooked up to it, including a 300 gallon fuel wagon thru the field or pulling an Interstate Battery truck out that had slid off the road in an ice storm. And since I got all this for the same price I would have paid for a gasoline model, I think I got a good deal.

The only issue if the future would be parts availability with the Chrysler issues going on. We'll have to see how that plays out.
