Post subject: | Check Engine again |
So she cut out this morning on the way to my outdoor day. engine check light came on. I found the Diesel filter to be one revolution loose. I tightened it by hand. Now I need to read the fault codes without a reader. I searched for an our and read everythingI could find. Tried the key thing, 3 X ; 4 X ; 5 X on off and it didnt show any thing. tried the press trip reset and then turn to o position and let go. the whole cluster when nuts, testing every thing and then just before it stops it shows "5,7" on the trip display. no other indications or codes. did i do something wrong again? |

I've never gotten the key trick to work either - I have a Scangauge to read codes the fuel system is vacuum - so a filter loose enough to turn would pull in air - which would cause stalling also once you fix something - it takes 3 engine cycles (cool to hot) to clear the CEL. but it's still best to read the codes - there could be something else happening too. |

If the CEL is from the loose filter, it will go off after 3 start cycles (shut down, let cool, start again). |

Well she is running now again. I turned around and headed home after she left us standing and everything I have felt the last 6 weeks feels the same. I'm suspicious about the turbo boost though. just doesn't feel right. Maybe i'm chasing air on that feeling........ I ordered a code reader thios morning but the supplier is out of stock. they'll get it for me. Can any reader read the Jeep's codes? I'll stop by a Service station tomorrow and ask for help on that. |
