Hi there.
Something new appeared on my 2005 CRD.
I got a ratteling noise from the back breaks when applying slight break power.
If i break to stop, then i got power and no noise, but typically going down hill, slowing down before a curve, i got a distinctive clonk-clonk-clonk noise that is in synch with the speed of the car.

my mechanic found nothing (...why can i see some funny smiles... )

Anyone has an idea ? (aside stopping applying breaks or crankking up the CD player to cover the noise  )

My disks and disk pads are all in good condition.

thanks

Blaise

Sounds like a floating pin for one of the calipers could be loose, I had a similar situation one time. Also a possibility - Hub Bearings (not sure if the KJ has rear bearings like I'm thinking of) or part of the suspension is loose.

i have check the calipers pins. didnt find anything loose there
Will check the bearings.

I have tried since to shake the weels with the KJ on the ground, it is possible to hear a loud clonk. Looks like something loose somewhere, i just cant find it...

Have you checked your rear differential joint. Mine went dry at about 65k replaced it with a greasable joint. No noise since in the rear end. Just a thought

Sounds like a bearing then. Jack up the back and see if the wheels wiggle. ANYTHING is a sign of either a loose bearing nut, or a trashed bearing. Change them out either way, b/c if the nut worked itself loose somehow, the bearings WILL be trashed in short order. Hopefully it didn't rip up the mating surfaces.
