I have joined the forums only a few times since becoming a member of Lost Jeeps .. so I may have missed the answer to my question ... and I can't seem to find anything in existing forums ... so here goes ... Has anyone had any experience in modifying the exhaust on a CRD? I have been told that performance and mileage will increase with larger pipes ... something like 3" pipes ... I have not been able to find much on this topic and would like to know what kind of muffler and other parts would be used. I thought I saw an article in Diesel Power Magazine last year on this but can also not find that article in back issues. Any input would be appreciated. I have 70+ on my CRD and would not trade it for any other vehicle on the road ... just looking for ways to make it even better!

Hey there, mule. First, let me welcome you to the forum - you will find more information here than you can dream of for modding out your CRD.

However, the "CRD TECH SECTION" is for tech write-ups only. General questions/ discussions on CRD issues are in "CRD. . . Love that Torque."

Try this link about exhaust, and check the links in my post about 1/2 way down. The side-exit that member did looks pretty cool, though it won't help your ground clearance for wheeling.
