So I shall Begin, I need Help

Alright I will first start with how much pure information i have been able to get from this site. nothing better period.
Now, i purchased a 2006 Jeep liberty (KJ) limited CRD in feburary of 2009. And i do love it, drives like a super fast tractor nice for a tiny little 4x4.
But as you might expect i have some problems. nothing major but i want some advice from people that have owned one of these long as well as used this site much more.
First: having an EGR on a diesel is dumb, i would like to purchase a "SEGR" (not sure what the 'S' means yet...) does any one have one (presodered) for sale? I'm rather sure I can figure out from the tech threads on how to install. right now I am popping code p0401. egr insufficent flow (mechanical failure). I am also throwing the p0299 code turbo underboost. they come at the same time.
my data ends up to be:
calc load = 37.67%
ECT = 73
MAP = 88
RPM = 753
Speed = 0
IAT = 62
MAF = 15.33
fuel press (kpa) = 33280
Do I need to replace before installing a SEGR for proper working order? or can i clean the EGR somehow? I am hearing the "grinding of gears" on certain start ups, not all the time. i figure that it is coming from the electric solinoid attempting to open the valve and its crudded up. I have changed the oil twice (5w-40) and per the book I check and clean the MAP sensor each time. Could these codes come from a bad MAP sensor as well?
I haven't been able to check the tube from the Turbo to the CAC or from the CAC to intake for any split holes etc for the cause of the p0299. any ideas?
okay now emission stuff aside on to the real issues... I have read about the plastic stator use in the TC and how its not up to the torque of this motor. during certain speeds (approx 40-55 mph) I can hear a " waaah waah waah, coming from the tranmission tunnel, I am venturing a guess that it is the TC slipping. any thoughts?
Next possibly not for this side of the forum but while i am here and it is sort of diesle related. ball joints...
the guy I bought this jeep from had claimed to be a mechanic..bmw..he might have been the worse one there, who knows. but installed a 2" lift (spring spacers nothing else quite cheap) but failed to change anything else. so i have stock Upper control arms which the ball joints sit so far out of neutral that you'd never think they would work. the recal on the lower ball joints was preformed. I am hearing ALOT of noise from the front end, and feel this has to be dealt with immediatly, i would like to look in to the Jeepin als ? uppers for a replacement as they are designed for lifted libertys ( i do like the ride height) But did the recall fix the lower ball joint problems by upgrading to the bigger units (not sure of moog part #) or just same ones? also any comments on the uppers would be helpful.

Now I am truly sorry for taking up so much space and yes I know these answers can be found through out this forum, but for myself being so new i find it is alot of data to sort through, as you can tell i have tried, or else i wouldnt understand as 'little/much' as I do. can someone please help me and provide me with some advice on this.
as i said i love the vehicle, i have planned on keeping it for awhile so these small issure dont seem that bad, but i wan the right direction. i mean 4 cylinders (sleeved like the big boys) that make 300 lbs/trq but can get close to 30 mpg. i do like, but want to insure it lasts.

and feeds the right info to the ECM to keep off the CEL. Until you get the SEGR unit installed, disconnect the plug on the air filter housing that goes to the MAF (ORM mod) and it will close the EGR valve as long as it is not stuck.
If the EGR is stuck you can free it up most of the time and let it close.

I am still running ORM since I did not test and install my box yet.

The P0299 will be a hose or a leak of boosted air post turbo. More than likely a hose, but I suppose a intercooler could go bad.

First to know just exactly has been done to your Jeep, I would go to the Jeep web site. Next enter your VIN number to find out what dealer mods have been done (such as the F37 torque converter, ball joints, etc.). Go from there.

I would do the SEGR to get rid of the EGR from functioning and gumming up the intake manifold. Contact UFO for that.

You can look your turbo hoses over and see if they are split. Just feel around them real good.

The grinding noises you hear are probably the AFC valve (Air Flow Control). They have plastic gears are known to go bad. If yours is bad, you can always just remove the butterfly valve and unplug it. It won't harm anything but you'll notice that the shut down will shake a little more.

I read for the first time the other day that the "S" stood for "synthetic." I've been wondering for a year. I do like the "stealth" suggestion.

I have an assembled SEGR that I am no longer planning to install. It was just a little more the $285, so would like to come close to recouping that money. Just sitting on my workbench waiting for someone else to use...

Some good info. i did check the website and i didnt find anything...hopefully means all is well. i would like to stay aCRD tech.
other then that.
i did order jeepin als control arms to be installed this weekend, i sure do hope that will stop the horrible racket up front. i also hope that is helps without causing me the expense of a knuckle, or lower balls joints.
now as for segr, where can i get one, and can i get an honest opinion on the difficulty of installing. im am quite capable but daily driver here, cant afford to be down.
next where and possibly how much can i get turbo hoses, stock sucks sure but how much more are silcone lined type tubes?
and lastly, do i have to clean the egr beofre the install of segr?
can i fix my issure temporarly by cleaning, hopefully electric motor is working. and how difficult is it to remove clean and reinstall if possible?

I am just pulled the same P0401 off mine, I would rather spend the $285 for the SEGR then a new EGR. Let me know if its still available, and if not how do I get another one? thanks!

The S meant "sans" if I remember right... so SEGR is sans EGR...
